Triss Merigold of Maribor (All Spoilers) Resurgence

Triss and Lambert are too antagonistic to be indifferent to each other, so they have some kind of history, but I do not think there is any warrant to believe it a romantic one. Triss and Eskel, on the other hand, are shacked up in the post-canon Something Ends, Something Begins. Must be something to that old witcher touch.

Yeah i don't see a romantic history between Lambert and Triss.
With Eskel there's clearly the potential(and non canon consumation) but no realisation in actual game or book canon.

@GuyNwah and @wright1978 - Speaking from a purely creative writing perspective, I would say that it's precisely the antagonistic nature of the Triss/Lambert relationship that makes such a flight of fancy appealing to me. It doesn't necessarily imply a romance, I agree, but in my honest opinion doesn't preclude it either. From my TW3 experience, Lambert seems like a much better fleshed out character than Eskel, and perhaps because of that I see more potential in him. Lets say for arguments sake that one does try to bring Lambert and Triss together. Like you said, they're not indifferent to eachother. I don't think the problem would come from the young witcher, but from the sorceress. Triss is in no way ready to forget Geralt that easily. She'd rather be alone.

I can't really say much about "Something Ends, Something Begins". I've read it, but like you said, it's post-canon and I have no knowledge of the canon material to say that Triss and Eskel could reasonably end up together either. To imply that Eskel/Triss work better than Lambert/Triss just because the first is mentioned in the author's short story, misses out the "why". I'm not opposed to it mind you, but I don't understand the motivation behind it and Sapkowski doesn't go into a lot of detail there. So for that reason I respectfully disagree with both your opinions. I would say the game is on for both couples if we are really to imagine Triss with someone other than Geralt in a TW3 universe.

Dat witcher touch on the other hand... (Vlodomir, out of my head, now!)

:disgust:

Well there's this scene in Blood of Elves:
It was Eskel’s behaviour which was most unlikely; he got up, approached the enchantress, bent down low, took her hand and kissed it respectfully. She swiftly withdrew her hand. Not so as to demonstrate her anger and annoyance but to break the pleasant, piercing vibration triggered by the witcher’s touch. Eskel emanated powerfully. More powerfully than Geralt.
“Triss,” he said, rubbing the hide-ous scar on his cheek with embarrassment, “help us. We ask you. Help us, Triss.”

I know it's not really a proof of anything, but I started shipping them after I saw this scene :D

Thanks, Zyvik, really appreciate that tidbit of knowledge! Gives me something to... chew on. :hatsoff:

Now... if someone would just give Eskel a better hairdo. Somehow reminds me of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Gods...

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I recently finished the Novigrade area (and Triss's romance) and decided t o head to Skellige...

The one question that kept reverberating through my mind during this time though:

Why didn't Triss stay with me after the lighthouse? It's not like Novigrade could get more dangerous for her (and the Underworld Bosses would find it easier to hide 1 Sorceress then a whole group of them) and having Triss around would have been far more interesting in terms of relationship development IMO.

I can somewhat understand Gameplay reasons but in-story it just does not makes sense. Romance with Geralt aside (which should be a pretty big factor in itself), Triss was full committed to helping find Ciri. She was willing to get tortured for that end. Why wouldn't she stick around and help ?

Ultimately I just shrugged and went 'Gameplay affecting story' so what can you do and then tried to imagine how any quests or whatever I was involved in would have gone if Triss had been adventuring by Geralt's side.

This led to the second question, I left Novigrade for Skellige shortly after the Lighthouse scene where I met Yen and started the Skellige quests.

Yet all the time I was thinking how would things have gone if Triss had been with Geralt when they went to Skellige? When they met Yen ? When they started doing the quests on Skellige? When Cerys made her comments about Yen (Which about as far as I got this weekend)? What would Cerys have said about Triss?

Please tell me some of you have thought about this as well and have some thoughts about it? (and/or someone has written a Fanfic already)?

@Basterax

-After the lighthouse, Triss teleport to the ship and escort the novice mage to Kovir, they are also important to her (that is my canon btw :p)

-Personally i always do Skellige first to get rid of the force flirt then go to Norvigrad (make more sense for my playthough this way)

It does not make much sense, but CDPR probably decided that making your choice matter in a way that actually affects the gameplay (something TW3 in general is not very good at, there are no separate "paths" like in the first two games) would not be worth the resources it requires to implement. According to the conversation in the lighthouse, she should be in Kaer Morhen, and if you complete Now or Never at the recommended level, that would mean already in the Ugly Baby quest. If you wait with Now or Never until the second act, then the inconsistencies and lack of consequences to the choice are avoided.

I she was already in Kovir before Now or Never at some time (the conversation in Blindingly Obvious may suggest that is the case, but it is not certain), then it should have been possible to teleport directly to Kovir, and from there to Kaer Morhen. It is a long distance, but teleporting from Kaer Morhen to Vizima was apparently possible in TW1 at the end of the prologue. In any case, I do not think the game confirms that she is in Kovir between Now or Never and The Battle of Kaer Morhen, it is simply not explained.
