Turn and face the strange // Grave Robber

I finished the "Turn and Face the Strange" quest some time ago and at the time I wondered why we never found out who the grave robber was or why they were interested in the professors mutations in the first place. At the time I'd figure we'd get an answer to that question somewhere later in the expansion.

However, I've finished the expansion today and I still have no idea what was up with the grave robber, does anyone know any more and did I miss something obvious?

To be honest i do not think the graverobbers were intentionally searching for the professors mutations.
I think another quests (cant recall the name) makes it clear that the graveyard is a popular spot for graverobbers.
Maybe it was an average joe that just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

Thats just what i got out of it.
