I'd go for realtime every time, but having a neural mod which allows you to slow/speed up perception of time, letting you have more time to plan an attack/counterattack would be cool also, maybe akin to the realtime wheel selection used in titles like Mass Effect or Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Fallout 3 etc., but with an original spin on such a mechanic.

Traditional turn-based mechanics just tend to piss me off honestly, one, because i suck at them, and two, because i don't really see the need in modern open-world style games.

Isometric real time combat please.

If you guys think turn based combat sucks you should play some Xcom EU on impossible mode. It's insanely fun. It's not that turn based combat sucks, its that most games (most of ones I've played) implement it poorly.

I expect real time. But a turn-based mechanism would be nice to complement the game.

Didnt they already say it will be a fast combat with a lot of action? Sounds like real time...

It will be real time. They've made that relatively clear. Time left to change, though, and for reasons I've never clearly understood, the turn-based crew always turns up for new RPGS arguing for their preferred play-style. Oh, well. Good luck!

The only realistic shooter I have ever played was the Americas Army and thats it. Amen. Real action lasts sometimes 30-60 seconds before it is all over!
Full control you say and what about panic tests, cyberpsychosis ect? And how to control your team in real time? No product have done it correctly yet.
I proposed Turn Based because it is only way to be sure that we will not end up with another stupid rambo type, one man show type of game.

What are the advantages of turn based:
- In a game with realistic combat mechanics such as in CP 2020 source book there are not bullet dodgers. It is not a matrix!
It means often one bullet man down. How long would you like to play like that? Turn based it is only way to plan the action and have any chance to survive.
- In turn based game you can really control your team and have chance for them to survive.
- Real time may be good for Witcher or other medieval stuff where you are wielding your sword, but here we have fucking bullets that runs hundreds of meters per second. Are you crazy to take it realtime punk? CDPR is not alfa omega in modern warfare so it will be suicide for the project to make it realtime in my opinion.

It may look like realtime when the action is started but plan has to be turn based. I do not see any other option.

Good luck with that.

Turnbased. Not that I expect it to be, but I know I would like it more. Saying TB is for cartoons or kiddies games (or whatever) is just plain ignorant.

REAL TIME, turn-based would seriously ruin this game. I don't even think its even up for debate.

I wouldn't mind having the same gun control as Hitman: Absolution.

The point shooting can be an implant, his instinct as well.

And if I may add, unlike in Absolution it would actually make sense in CP 2077.

Real-time surely. Leave the turn based for Jagged Alliance =D

Real time. Can´t stand turn-based combat anymore :/ The only expectations that don´t annoy me areFallout´s VATS or Kotor´s combat system. But I´d prefer real time combat :D

Turn based combat in this type of environment? Unbelievable! The realism and immersion would be absolutely LIMITED.

Real time of course...

Turn based gameplay is only needed when you manage a team (like in the real PnP game) and as Wisdom said is needed cause you need to wait your turn (to have a fair oportunity in combat)..

A "pause" button or "slow time" function would be greatly appreaciated, though (as implemented in The Witcher2) cause it would be really useful, in order to use all your gadgets when a lot of crazy shit is happening all around you...

Turn based might be a tad too hardcore, but interactive pause and non-twitchy gameplay would be much appreciated.

“Why is it that whenever someone says 'with all due respect' they really mean 'kiss my ass'?”

@Topic: I would certainly have more fun with it being twitch-real-time-fast-paced-high-octane-whatever :D

Never voicing your opinion will never get anything done, and not least because not voicing it will never project the desire towards the developers. It's pretty much a lose/lose situation in the current gaming market (outside of Indies and Kickstarters... and Larian), as easier money is made with actiongames. But perhaps some day someone will do one with a proper budget because there is clearly a market for it.

Agreed, a turn based system would definitely brake the immersion and we all know how important immersion is in a Cyberpunk game and RPG's in general. Pretty sure Cyberpunk 2077 will be real-time though.

Real time clearly. Best control, more inmersion. And, I think, it's totally compatible with the idea and system that CD Projekt RED want to put into Cyberpunk.

There is a market for it, sure, it's just not as big as the market for action games. Sadly.

I'm actually fine with either, but there's less than 0% chance of it being turn based.

I would say that turn based/real time has nothing to do with game being based in Cyberpunk. There could be a great turn based game in Cyberpunk - for example game like old Syndicate where you lead a group of corporate soldiers and fight in corporate war. Team based, tactical game like X-Com.

But CDPR specializes in different type of games, they make story driven action RPGs and they are doing great job. Also story driven games are better in TP/FP perspective because you feel stronger connection with your hero.

I personally would love to see real remake of original Syndicate, but from CDPR I expect something different.
