Tutorial

I don't think the tutorial does a good job of introducing people into the world of the Witcher. The main reason for this being that the help hints aren't visible for long enough, or are shown when you are busy in combat. Trying to read whilst fighting for the first time isn't possible. I found myself literally running around in circles avoiding enemy blows just so I could read the tutorial.

I tried pausing the game by pressing Esc, but that just opens up the menu, and when you go back into the gameplay the help hint that was on your screen has now gone.

I think the tutorial should be slowed down a bit, maybe have the game pause and continue once the player chooses so. Either that, or have the gameplay carry on but the help hints only go away once the play chooses so.

Also, no in-game tutorial to dice poker. I should have guessed it was like poker from the name, but at first I thought it was whoever had the highest value of dice won. The English Wiki helped and later I found the rules explained in the manual, but not ingame. Thinking about it, there might have been an ingame tutorial, but it probably went too fast for me to read.

I agree with the speed of the Tutorial dialog. I could not read it all either. Please slow it down or let us click it off so that we can hit the x in the corner of the screen when we are done reading. Most tutorials have a place where you can go back the review. I have not found that yet, but I have not looked super hard for it.

Please leave the tutorial alone; it just needs fleshing out (like the dice poker rules, which violate the principle of least surprise), and maybe leaving it up a little longer. Having to interrupt the game to click through a tutorial page would be another annoyance and a step backward.

You can read completed tutorial items at your leisure, in your journal (J key).

I really like the tutorial. When you wish you can read it at your journal so you can enjoy the beginning of the game and you weren't distractet by klicking away tutorial popups.

I never understood what all the fuss around the tutorial was. I didnt read the manual, didnt read the journal, didnt even read the tutorial messages and managed just fine. Looking at the button config and about 15 minutes ingame were enough for me to know what is what.

The fuss for me is that the tutorial doesn't stay on the screen long enough to do any good. When a tutorial flashes on the screen it shoudl freeze all action and stay put until canceled and only then the action resumes--thus you don't have to be concerned about dying. Else it should just flash momentarily with something like 'See New Tutorial' and then, when you get a chance, go to the Main Menu | Journal | Tutorial and find the new tutorial entry. For me the way the tutorials run up on the screen is a total distraction. I cannot gleen what they mean fast enough--might be a great idea for a speed reading/comprehension course though. :)

I gather i was not the only one who played the tutorial... but i have a doubt. I have given the tutorial a couple of tries, getting so far as the game suggesting me to end it in "difficult" setting, but no more than that.

What i was wondering is this: what do you get if you "win" the tutorial by killing everything and everyone thrown at you, including that big golem? is there a prize? is there a unique piece of equipment, something?

Has anyone finished the tutorial completely?

The tutorial is just there to help you learn the game. There's no contest, no prize.

Yes, I finished the tutorial. I would have thought that most people do, once they start.

I got this game yesterday, after getting a new graphics card. I'm playing the tutorial now, and I can't figure out how to make a potion. :(

Press CTRL to open the command wheel and press the button in the middle. That should bring up the meditation menu and there you can choose to brew some potions.
