TV junkies

TV junkies

Any other hard core TV-series junkies here? I admit I'm one. Like seriously. The series I haven't even watched are few and far between (although among them are some pretty great ones, such as the Wire or Doctor Who, just never got into those for some reason), although many I watch I kinda tend to leave after some episodes, if they really suck.

My Trakt watchlist has 66 shows right now. The ongoing week shows 29 episodes. My average time spent in WoW still is above 4 hours every single day for the past eight years, even though for the past two expansions I've played little, which is impressive as such, but my TV-addiction is unrivaled.

Just watched the second to last Spartacus episode, realized next week the entire series will end, and was a bit mortified. I mean, I always try to watch Spartacus drunk; it's sooooooooooo good, all the blood, violence, titties, sex. Still, drinking beer and watching really good series often makes me quite somber even to the point of breaking down in tears. Now this series is coming to an end next week, the series where I loved Andy as the lead, then Andy died of cancer, like real cancer in real life, and now as I've just reconciled Liam being the lead, and come to terms with Naevia's actress changing just like that, not to mention Manu gaining like 40 pounds, it's all going to end. I don't think any amount of beer is going to be enough.

Do TV-series ending ever get to you guys on an emotional level? Are TV-series a big part of your life?

Also, would you want to see a live action Cyberpunk TV-series (perhaps an animated one?), and if so, what about? How would it go?

Also, no spoilers, at all. Please. Thanks.

66 shows and you expect no spoilers? And discussion? Yeah, good luck.

Also, Macleod, if you play WoW 4 hours a day AND track 66 shpws..what do you -do- for a living? Tell me you are a TV reviewer. I have a few thoughts on the cancelling of Firefly I'd like to share. And Better Off Ted. Damn that show was great. "We..we ARE mad scientists!"

I played WoW when I was still a so-called "student" and then unemployed. I don't really play WoW now, although I just picked up SW:TOR again. My average after 5 or 6 years of WoW was like 5,5 hours per day. It was pretty intense. Mind you I did do some internships while I was unemployed.

Now I spend 6, 7 or 8 hours a day, depending on the day, doing boring shit in an office on a computer. That still leaves 16 hours, of which I usually sleep like 4-5. Plenty of time to play and watch TV and movies. Still manage to do other shit as well.

As far as reviewers go... I'd never be one. I mean, I personally can give you my feelings on a movie or TV-series, but I'd never call myself a "critic", and I'd never "review" anything. People who do so are douchebags. Sorry, Roger Ebert, but it's true.

I don't think I've watched TV in about... 5 years now? Nothing interesting on it anyway. Internet provides sufficient entertainment.

Oh, I dunno. I find reviews very useful. I have only so much time. If it weren't for reviews I would never have seen "Life", "The Wire", "Black Books", 'Dexter" to name nly a few.

I picked up TOR again a few weeks ago. Thought I'd finish the story on my Sorc or Bounty Hunter. Nope!

Haven't owned a TV my entire life. If I want to watch something I find it on the internet, commercial free. Been watching X-files and Game of Thrones lately.

Definately. I'm pretty emotional person anyways when watching films and shows. I usually have like 5-10 shows that I download per week.
When Babylon 5 ended I felt so empty (same feeling I get when finishing really memorable game) because that masterpiece had been with me several years.
Stargate SG-1 had also perhaps the best final episode I've seen, such a tribute to the show and characters.

I'm a 'TV junkie' too right from cartoons, anime, shows and even web series lol
watched/watching too many shows to mention should probably just make a list now

Just watched the absolute final end of Spartacus. I am broken.

However...

I usually watch TV quietly on my couch, with my headphones on. Neighbors hear nothing, apart from some laughing and such at times. When the end credits of the episode ended though and there was one final scene, I yelled "YES!" as loud as I possibly could.

Man. It'll take me days to get over this shit now. Crap.

Spartacus, eh? Hmm. We've been thinking about watching that. You like?

If you can process a series that on the surface is nothing more than "violence porn", but has such unbelievable depth, and if you can process the fact that the lead character actor died of cancer after the first season at the age of 40, and if you can process the fact that the seasons go like 1 0 2 3, meaning first season is followed by a prequel season, then followed by the second season where there's a different lead, and then the third (fourth) and final...

It's been a roller coaster.

When Galactica ended after four seasons, I was so messed up for a couple days. This isn't any different really, although this journey has been such a complicated thing, falling in love with the lead and then finding out he actually died RL...

Sigh.

Do I like it? Uhh, yeah. It's just not for simple people who can't or won't see beneath the surface, nor for the faint at heart.

Damn. I am that simple person. Well-done violence is enjoyable and exciting, but violence for it's own sake is tiresome. Much like gratuitous sex. Oh, well.

Battlestar Galactica was so very good. We're re watching it on Netflix. They really did earn that Peabody.

What I meant was it's so easy to label Spartacus as "violence porn", or something similar. So easy. It's obviously a big part of it, but that's not the extent of it. What little I know of you through your posts, I think you'd have no trouble diving deeper into that series.

Obviously it takes a little bit of sick mind to watch the series. I mean, a big part of enjoying it IS killing and having sex.

Now you're talking! Killing while having sex! Fantastic!

Also, you know lots about me. I'm exactly as I appear here: funny, brilliant and handsome as handsome can be. Also witty, incisive, clever, compassionate, wise and generous of spirit. Really just about perfect.

Tolerant, too. I like all you little people so much. You're great!

Well, I claim I can tell a lot of the level of intelligence, and the quality of humor, of people, based on how they post. You can of course disagree.

Mind you, I never claimed I know you. I don't know you. I just think I know enough to say what I said.

I've got the last two episodes of Spartacus sitting waiting to be watched - I decided to hold off until it was complete and I was in the right mood, as I assumed I know how it ends. I'll probably watch them today. And thanks for the tip about watching through the credits. :)

I seem to have a habit of walking away from series half-way through the final season. Is it just me, or do a lot of them really deteriorate near the end? Sopranos, Fringe, X-Files.... I'm almost dreading the final season of Dexter. I'm relieved that it didn't happen with Spartacus. I was a little worried when the final season started, as they really did seem to overdo the sex and violence in the first 30 minutes or so, but it settled back down into the story quickly after that.

I made the topic on spartacus on the witcher forums too. I was emotionally shaken was well. Of course I knew how it would end, just that after watching it for 4 years, it was indeed an emotional moment. Great execution. kudos to the makers.

Farewell 'king' Spartacus. Now I'm waiting for the next series based on Julius Caesar, Marcus Crassus and Pomepy, probably how they overthrew the empire.

And yes dragonbird, do not miss the credits. Well since being the grand finale, I don't think that there was a need to mention it either :)
