[TW1] [adventure] Poet's Pride + Walkthrough

Here I am with a new adventure:Poet's Pride: http://www.mediafire.com/?dythnxocyl1*********************Poet's Pride V1.2*********************By Arkray @ http://arkray.livejournal.com************************************************************************************NO WARNINGS!NO Adult Content at ALL! Not this time :D************************************************************************************Description:------------Jaskier's lute has been stolen, help him recover it.Installation Instructions:--------------------------Copy the file 'PoetsPride.adv' in the folder 'Documents and Settings/All Users/Documents.../The Witcher/'Since the name folder may vary depending on your windows language and/or it beingXP/Vista here is another option:perform a search in the 'Documents and Settings' folder searching for *.adv' files.Where the 'm1_module.adv' file is located (aka 'Price of Neutrality') there is where you must copy the file 'PoetsPride.adv'Notes:------1) The game happens at night for 'lighting' reasons, other time ruined my lighting efforts.2) Playing time: 1hour MAX! Don't worry for the time, there is enough, besides every ingame hour lasts for 16 minutes.3) No cat's eye, done on purpose.4) Dedicated to another of those TW enemies we hate so much.5) English is not our native language so excuse any mistakes and bad narrative you may find. You can point me any mistakes/improvements and I'll gladly fix them.6) Thanks for downloading and playing it. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I had creating it. Credits:--------- Arkray: Idea, concept, programming and stubborness (http://arkray.livejournal.com)- Jurindel: Poems, addtional concept, testing and support (Ark: and for listening all my insane ideas)And:- Snowaltz: for the random idea that ended being the ***** minigame XD- Hexenmeister Raven for adviceTHANKS FOR PLAYING!Arkray.-    :peace: :peace:  :whistle:WALKTHROUGH!!!
Poet's Pride Walk-throughThe map Jaskier gives you contains very useful information to be used later. The first poem leads you to the church in Temple Quarter. Here a nice Grampa tells you to find 'something'. That thing is hidden into 4 parts among the piles of books. Those 4 parts of the riddle, in correct order, are:- when you have it- you want to share it- when you share it- you no longer have itGrampa will check if you solved it asking you for a random letter of the answer. The answer to the riddle is 'secret', what you were looking for among the books was a secret.Don't forget to take a sample of the first body in the church, you may need it later.Second poem leads you to the cemetery. Here a clue banner gives you the hint that the dead ones will show you where to look for. Every sarcophagus has a word carved on it. The word 'where' emits a sound (*click*) to prove it has been activated, the objective is to keep on activating the sarcophaguses in the right order to complete the sentence. The sentence is: 'where you see yourself to be' (an item than reflects you) That is where you must search. Once the sequence has been completed a mirror appears in the center of the cemetery ruins. Check it to find a new poem and a key.Don't forget to take a sample of the second dead body, you may need it later. The third poem leads you to a new location, this time the sewers and the key opens the sewer's door. This place was drawn in the map Jaskier gave you marking 2 locations. The most south one is locked so better go to the northern one, the elvish area. Before entering in the elvish ruins take a sample from the dead body in the corridor that leads to the ruin's entrance. Here 3 ghosts will welcome you, they are not hostile, the just ask for certain items to be returned to them, these are:- emotion's source => heart sample- life's source => blood sample- thoughts' source => brain sampleYou will receive a new key. This key opens the locked secret area. Here a new puzzle awaits you, 12 torches to be activated in a sequence. The sequence is hidden in the poems (what you learnt during your quest). The first letter of every poem gives you a number, those are 3,4,8. The order to use them is given by the 'sun's movement', you are facing south so the order is from left to right. Once the torches have been correctly activated the final door will open.

DAMNIT!!!!! I must reply to my own threat.... yesterday night when I finished with Crysis Warhead I finally installed the EE version and after being a bit paranoid with blurriness I checked my own mod to compare... anyway that is not the problem....The lute sound at the end DOES NOT PLAY in the EE version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was heard in the 1.3 version as soon as you where close enough? Why? all the other things work fine in the EE version, a friend had tested but the version he tested didn't have the sound. What must I do??????????? Please all the other things work fine, what must I change in the sound item for it to act like in the 1.3 version? Please. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Thanks for this mod, arkay -- this is a very clever idea! Have you considered talking to the CDPR folks and asking them to add your new adventure to the news page? Plain mods don't get reported there, but new adventures seem to.

Nice idea for a new adventure. I started playing it and I got through the first riddle no problem, but I am completely stuck in the next area.
I went to the graveyard and I looked in each sarcophagus and got all the words. I don't know what the *click* means after the word 'Where'. I though it might mean that a door unlocks somewhere, but I've found nothing of the sort. I've constructed various sentences with the words, but nothing helping me so far. All the side doors just lead to small rooms with nothing in them. I seem to have killed all the drowners and ghouls as well. I can't see any way out of this - the door back to the temple quarter is locked. There is nothing else apart from the bonfires that I can interact with.
I think that all means that I'm stuck, and it seems so early on in the quest too.A little help perhaps?

Yup, last bit. But the last one is tricky
The *click* is there to show you that is the correct word... I had no more ideas to 'sort' them besides in the darkness it is easy to miss it

I PM'ed Eriash...... The mod is in the mod's page but it has its approval pending :-\ Finished it yet? Got the final puzzle correctly? Did you hear the lute music in the end? I didn't and it may be my computer's fault and not the mod's....

I finished it - was actually a lot of fun. Very cool concept. I heard the lute music when I was in the area with all the torches, but before I unlocked the door. Is that what I was supposed to hear? Also tried failing the quest - nice to have an alternative ending...

Congrats and thank you ^____^ unlocked the door by trial and error or knowing what to do? About the lute, yes it HAS to be as you said.... Are you using the Enhanced version? if you are then what I experienced is a problem from my configuration and I can be relieved.... I finished the adventure with D'jinni 1.3 and I waited to upgrade until it was complete.

I wasn't entirely sure what to do with the last riddle:
Basically I clicked on the torches and found the ones that didn't give me the feedback that I can never finish this riddle. Then I clicked on those ones in in a random order and the door unlocked. What is the reasoning behind the riddle? I searched throughout the sewers, but couldn't find any clues for it. There was just the wraiths to whom I gave the heart, brain and blood.
A funny thing I did notice is that when the wraiths hit the bard (they seem to only hit him and not me) then he would be knocked out for a while, but then when I left the area he got up to follow me. Then when I stood still he would catch up with me then suddenly be lying on the floor again as if he was knocked out. he would then move when I moved, etc. This continued until the knock-out effect wore off I suppose.

Well, the wrong ones give you hard monster spawns, so it is not a good idea to fail too many of them. The clue is in the poems, every one has a number hidden in it, and then if you figure out the order of the torches, sun's movment, you have it the easy way. Bard and wraiths are importal, and wraiths are level 40, it was not a good idea to attack them. I supose that JAskier had a conflict in queued tasks, be knocked down and to follow... intersting, because before giving him the order to follow I clear all of his actions.... will check! thx!

I'm not as enamored of Jaskier as most people are -- he seems to be a continual pain in the a*s, as far as I can tell --
so having him berate Geralt for letting him down didn't seem all that funny to me -- I wanted to tell him to go find his own d*mned lute. I realize that my opinion about Jaskier is in the minority, though. :)

Oh, yes, I understand why THREE of the new mods have him doing stupid things -- it's so plausible. :) It's a lot easier to get him in trouble than to get Geralt in trouble, and most stories have to have the protagonist in trouble, or where's the interest? At least Geralt's rescuing a man and not a woman -- there have been enough damsels in distress in RPG's to last me for the rest of my life. :D

"Bard in Distress" -- I like that! :)I've been recommending this mod to people. While your empty Vizima is slightly creepy, I'm impressed that you've managed to put puzzle-based gameplay into The Witcher! Doing this makes your module very different from most of the others, so even though we have an embarrassment of riches at the moment, your module should not be overlooked.

I don't have a walkthrough, but I finished the module (with some timely help from its creator) -- what are you stuck on?
