[TW1][mod] Flash Mod v1.01

+
Failing non use of mass effect signs when allies are involved in melee in the vicinity of an Igni blast, how about some colateral damage to said allies?

Mod is almost ready but there's still a lot of testing. I expect about 2 weeks of beta testing with at least 4 testers finishing whole game. Same as Flash Mod, FCR will be released fully tested with 100% certainty that the game is as hard as possible on highest difficulty but completely passable. With FCR one can choose 3 in-game difficulty levels, scaled for the mod.No friendly fire in FCR. That's because there will be few moments when you'd like to see it and countless moments when you'd hate it and curse it. Imagine passing these unavoidable fights:- Salamander bandits taunting Shani in Tavern at the end of Act I and you constantly hurting Shani.- The Beast battle when you kill Abigail,- Fights with Salamander on the streets of Vizima in "hooker quest", spawned fledders attacking NPCs and you killing them all,- Fights in front of New Narakort tavern and kikimores fighting city guards,- Saving hostages in cemetary crypt in Vizima,- Roland + Salamander + kikimore warriors + hierofant fight- Fight in the bank, killing hostages and Zygfryd, etcetcYes, it's probably possible to win these battles without friendly casualties but it will be frustrating and..Imagine completely unpassable fight as a Sign specialist in Act V burning Old Vizima. Plenty, plenty of friendy NPCs.Now imagine how many times you'll meet bounty hunter after killing the innocent, loose gold and eventually die bankrupt in fight with him.So, no friendly fire.

Okay one last pass, and I'll shut up. How about friendly fire only on the hardest mode of the new mod? This is similar to D&D type rules, wherein with easy and normal modes fireballs, lightning bolts, etc. don't hurt friendlies, but in hardcore rules they do. This would make the new insane difficulty mod hardest mode extremely difficulty, which is kind of the objective (I thought). However it comes out I'll play it, of course. Hopefully it'll be as easy to download as your last improvement. Looking forward to it.

That's why D&D offers priests with resurrection ;)

Hey Flash(edit:eek:r anyone that might be reading^^),have any pro-tips for dealing with the Giant Centipedes in Act 4? Im having such a hard (or insanely hard i should say LoL) time with them^^ lol Theres just something about those damn mobs that stay in place..had the same trouble with the Coccacidium in Act 2 lol Ive encountered most monsters on offer in Act 4 thus far and have had no trouble with them generally speaking..including the Bruxa/Alps in the crypt with Berengar (great vid btw, really helped getting through that fight with Yrden =) )Took me a while to figure out how to get Royal wyverns (they seem ALOT harder then the ones i encountered in the swamp i must say lol) and Basilisks down..but i got them eventually..satisfying stuff^^ I remember how on normal medium it was so easy to take those mobs down..crazy really lol. Oh and Devourers aswell..didnt have any trouble with them at all..easy as pie =)Anyways yeah, any tips? Im thinking i might just need to level up more..but thought id ask here first before i go grinding caves lol. I have tried out alot of differant tactics on them and managed to get one down..but im chalking that up to blind luck because i havent been able to repeat it lol The basic problem is that they seem to be able to hit me no matter what i do..by the time i get two sequences of fast style out to inflict pain im usually below 40% hp and the rest is history. Ive tried kiting them with Active Quen to deal damage and mitigate damage taken by me..igni/fast style/strong style/quen..kite kite kite..some fights went for a very very long time..but again, once i engage them properly im toast so to speak^^ Of course ive been using proper Oils/potions during fight..swallow-tawny..then ive tried a mix of golden oriole to prevent their venom based Pain,Maribor Forest for most endurance/igni blasts etc etc all in seperate fights of course,I never let my toxicity get above 50% because that seems to debuff Geralt imo..though nothing is shown. So yeah, any pro-tips?or should i just go and level up a bit more?

Those were real pain-in-the-..., I agree. I avoided them the first levels in act 4 and then used 'ordinary' tactics, i.e. Igni/strong style/Quen. They're immune to pain so fast style is kinda useless imo. Having 4th chain attack (power-up) was useful since you often only can two hits or so before they dissapear. Takes some timing tho.

No, they are not and fast style is very useful. Centipedes are something like merge of coccacidium with kikimore warrior. Yes, I'm also avoiding them until I have high enough level. They should be strong but yeah, I'll nerf them in next release of the mod.

If you have Igni advanced to the point of causing fear the worms are pushovers. My main problem is following them as they attempt to run away underground. They are also vulnerable to Igni while underground, and often die there. Bruxae, Alps, Cemetaurs, Royal Wyverns, Basilisks--all are vulnerable to the fear factor that is possible to learn in the current version of Insane Difficulty mod. Also, I'm sure, in the vanilla game. I wonder if you've eliminated that aspect of Igni in the new mod, Flash? The only two creatures I've encountered so far (and I've played the insane mod through 4 times now) who seem immune to the fear factor are the various Kikimors (most notably the warriors) and the Archespores. You say in the new version it will not be possible to get off more than 2 Igni blasts in a short time. Does this hold true even if you've taken Maribor Forest and Tawny Owl? I'm looking forward to finding out.

All testing and calculations are made with included Swallow and Tawny Owl. Maribor Forest allows 3rd cast much quicker then without it but potions are also rebalanced and some of them seriously weakend. Weakened potions and oils doesn't mean they are useless. In fact, you can't survive without proper potion and oil, fe. all spectre type enemies are almost untouchable without oil against spectres. Black blood as always will be one way do deal with hungry monsters but this time it will be last resort. You don't want to be bitten, it might end with death of both carrion eaters and Geralt.Fear immunity is popular among monster type enemies in FCR.

Hey Flash,I have benn using parts of your mod and like it. One question though - I am using the swords change but I have decided that I don't like the new forged steel sword model as much as the origonal one. How can I get the old models back?

Ah perfect,i leveled up two more times and got Dexterity/Strength 5 and the giant centipedes are no longer a problem^^ Their chance to hit me is drastically reduced when i have Pain inflicted now. :)

Uninstall the mod in matter of seconds and install it again without sword models ;)
Right, but I'm not sure which files in the Swords Change folder are the correct ones to remove without ruining the stats edits (which I like) and I would rather not have to start my game all over - though I'll need to reforge a new sword again right?

but, butquote from first post
To remove the mod uninstall it from windows control panel -> add/remove programs
It's fully automatic. No need to start new game, just get new sword.

Sorry Flash, I should have specified that i'm using an older version (1.04 I think?) and everything was manual install at that point. Really all I want to do is have all of the changes in the swords edit but still use the older forged steel swords models instead of the new one that Baringar has. Thanks for sticking around to support your work after all this time!!

Delete these files from The Witcher\DATA\uti:it_stlswd_bbb.utiit_stlswd_bby.utiit_stlswd_byy.utiit_stlswd_rbb.utiit_stlswd_rby.utiit_stlswd_rrb.utiit_stlswd_rrr.utiit_stlswd_yrr.utiit_stlswd_yyr.utiit_stlswd_yyy.utiApart from models you'll also lose sword descriptions. Everything else will be fine and you can continue playing.Have fun :)

Thank you very much ;D! Does this mean i will loose descriptions for any new forged swords or the old one that I allready have?

I have to say...the Ureus fight in Act 4..epic! lol Ozrell used to be my favourite trophy fight until i met this nasty cemataur lol What a fight..it took me 5minutes or more lol The likes of Yrden and Quen really seem to become very very useful during this stage of the game on Insane difficulty^^ I also have to say Flash, the way you altered the Dagon fight made me really happy  The first time i encountered him on medium he went down waaaaaaaaay too easily..it was an anti-climax lol However this encounter was brilliant..i didnt find it too difficult but it was much much longer and reminded me of older action games ive played in the past where Boss fights relied on the players ability to concentrate in order to win =) On top of that, listening to the Boss-battle music for such a long time was a pleasure^^ a truly cinematic fight that made me feel as if i was indeed fighting a god of sorts^^...I cant wait for FCR^^ lol ;D
