[TW1] [mod] Stop the Rain!

The rain is atmospheric, and I was glad it was there for my first playthrough ... but now that I've started the game a dozen times, I'm tired of it, and I just want nice weather.

This mod will give Geralt a scroll -- to be found in his quest inventory, so it doesn't take up a slot in his bag -- that will force the rain to stop when Geralt reads it.

There are 8 files that make this work:

ck_rainstop.ncs
ck_rainstop.nss
custom_script.ncs
custom_script.nss
def_arealoaded.ncs
dp_scroll_019.dds
iit_quest_246.dds
it_quest_246.uti

These files should be placed in your Override folder; if you don't have an Override folder, you can just make one.

Any other consequences for using this? I can imagine Vaska will not be very thrilled. (but I am *grin)

Thanks for the nice comments; I'm glad you guys are enjoying having clear skies.Vaska doesn't have anything to say about it. The brickmakers do need some rain to keep the clay moist but not too much, or it'll turn soupy. Geralt's storm to wake up the golem is enough to keep the clay moist, so she's fine. :)

I just wanted to say thank you. I've never been a fan of excessive use of weather in games. I prefer mostly clear or overcast days to rain/snow.

You're welcome! I have trouble SEEING through heavy rain, and I wanted to turn it off so that I could tell what the heck was happening around me.

I tried using your mod, following all the directions in the readme, but I don't see the scroll in my inventory. I'm in the outskirts of Vizima now.My other mods include: Full combat rebalance, scabbard mod, perfect rain mod, perfect blood mod, Texturen mod, and Hi-res characters.Any ideas?

Both the Stop the Rain mod and the Scabbard mod use custom_script.ncs to add the requisite items to Geralt's inventory, so they conflict. As I said in the original post,

The def_arealoaded script can conflict with other mods. But all it and the custom_script files do is give Geralt the stop-the-rain scroll, so once Geralt has that scroll, you can take those files out of your Override folder.

So, to use this with the Scabbard Mod,1. Temporarily remove the Scabbard Mod -- put it on your Desktop or in some place other than your Data folder.2. Start your game.3. Wait until you're given the Stop the Rain scroll.4. Save your game and exit.5. Take the custom_script files from the Stop the Rain mod out of your Override folder, but do leave in the ck_rainstop.ncs, ck_rainstop.nss, dp_scroll_019.dds, iit_quest_246.dds, and it_quest_246.uti files. (Take custom_script.ncs and custom_script.nss out of your Data folder completely, don't just move them from Override to a different section of the Data folder.)6. Put the Scabbard Mod back.

I don't have a Data folder... am I missing something? I really need this mod because rain is constantly crashing my graphics driver. Strangely, the game runs just fine when the weather is nice.

EDIT: Doh! Nevermind, I see this is for the original Witcher game, I need something like this for The Witcher 2.
