Please, help me,

i've spent 2 hours by trying to install save editor properely, but it still doesn't work. I've got ot the point when it says "Unable to access jarfile TWEdtor.jar" I've been trough undefined language errors, Dialogue*.tlk doesn't exist errors etc. i tried to put my jarfile into \Data. I have Polish version of The Witcher, but i've changed folder to "The Witcher" I'm really hopeless and getting this running is vital for my gameplay because i can't get Y'estah rune cause it is not in Cave in swamps, in a place where it should be.

Hey, I'm sure you've had quite enough of this thread, and I feel kinda bad bringing this up, but i'm completely stuumped. After 32 hours of gameplay I hit a game breaking bug where I do not have the decoder for some coded block thingymajig. Needless to say it was a horrific revelation and led me to spend two hours trawling the internet for solutions and it brought me to this thread, but reading back over it got me a bit confused due to various people with various OS's and various file paths.

Before I start I am running Windows 8 64-bit

SO I downloaded the thing from this link-

http://www.mediafire.com/download/492pmb7t9hk18lx/TWEditorEnhanced.zip

And I pasted the .jar file into my witcher \data folder which is -

D:\3 Rory\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data

I right clicked it and sent it to desktop, and opened with -

C:\SysWOW64\javaw

But nothing happened. (Now I noticed there was also a Java and a Javaws next to javaw incase that means anything?)

So this is where I got to. When I open it normally I get the error message -

{x} Exception during program initialization
java.io.IOExeption: Unable to locate The Witcher installation directory
TWEditor.Main.main(main.java:166)

So yeah, if you could help me out I would be insanely grateful, this game has nestled nicely in a perfectly witcher shaped gap in my heart, and I would very much love to permanently keep it there by finishing the game. I'm sure you know the feeling of finding a great game and getting far into it then losing a game save or something like a game breaking bug (Accidentally deleted ps3 profile one time oops)

Cheers :)

Ok Roryyyyyy try deleting the shortcut and the TWEditor that you put in the Data folder . Now that both are gone copy and paste the TWEditor in your main folder
D:\3 Rory\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition . Then right click the TWEditor and select open with and using the browse button navigate to
C:\Windows\System 32\javaw
Then do as before with sending to desktop and then retry

I believe your doing the Lock and Key quest and for this you need to complete the following quests . Following the Thread , The Viziman Connection , Reaping Time , and Diplomacy and Hunting . Check your journal to make sure these have been completed . Then check your quest inventory , you may need to scroll left and right by clicking the arrows to either side . You may already know this but you would be surprised at the number who don`t . If you can`t seem to get the editor working then send me your save via email and i`ll add the necessary item and send it back to you .

I seem to get the same error message doing it from there. I checked and it's diplomacy and hunting I cannot complete because I think I must have just goofed and not bothered searching blenheims corpse, so when I go to the place it was, I cannot find his body haha top level gamer right here!

I'm not great with game files, so I don't suppose you'd be able to direct me to the folder I'd find the game saves could you?

Game saves would be in Documents>The Witcher>saves . Look for the one that has the latest date and time .

hey all. i hate to be a pain, but i have read through just about every page looking for someone else who has encountered the same problem, and hoping that there was a solution worded to said problem, to no avail. i'm getting the same "unable to locate directory" thing as however many other people, but regardless of wherever i look, i find no method of modifying the directory. i initially even thought i could at least view the path, without changing it, but that turned out to merely be the folder path that the file was in. i feel like an imbecile.

i am running windows 7, and i have also extracted the files into the witcher folder, (it's with steam, if it makes a difference) and i continue failing to find what the next step is. and i refuse to give up because i spent many hours farming ghouls/alghouls mainly for experience, only to have it freeze during a meditation cycle and lose everything.

lastly, i would like to give thanks to tommy, who has been more persistant and patient with helping those not as good with things such as this than anyone else i have seen in any forum.

Steam has been a bit problematic in getting the TWEditor to run and I think it`s because it`s not being installed as administrator and therefore not getting the necessary registry entries . Is your system 64 or 32 bit ? and where is Steam installed ?

it does tend to do that every now and then, unfortunately.
it's a 64 bit, and steam is a base folder on my E drive, visible as soon as it is opened.

ok . You will need to open regedit and then navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CD Projekt RED\The Witcher and see if the following entries are present
(Default)----REG_SZ---(value not set)
InstallFolder---REG_SZ---E:\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition
IsDjinniInstalled---REG_DWORD---0x00000001 (1)
Language----REG_SZ---3
RegionVersion---REG_SZ---WE

the language entry is missing, and the region entry is "us" rather than "we" in the last section.

Ok now right click the witcher in the left left column and hover your mouse over New and select String Value and then type Language then move to any empty area and click or double click . Now move the mouse and double click the Language entry and type 3 . Close regedit and try the game first to make sure it functions properly .

Now right click the TWEditor on your desktop and select properties and in the shortcut tab copy and paste here the text in the Target line .

language entry has been created and edited as instructed, and the target line is as follows
"E:\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\TWEditor.jar"
