"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx256m -DTW.install.path="C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher enhanced edition" -DTW.language=3 -jar TWEditor.jar^That's what worked for me on Windows 7 64-bit. Saved it as a .batTook me a bit to get it working since I'd stupidly forgotten a quotation mark and didn't see it for aaages. Everything after that worked grand for methough, thanks man!

Hey, one question. Is it possible to run the savegame editor without the installed The Witcher game??Because I 've following problem. I have played The Witcher two times but I have lost my first final save because I sold my PC and forgot to back up my save. Afterwards I played it again and I still have this save. Some month ago I have sold my The Witcher game and now I like to modify my old save to the settings of my old first save which I have lost. I try to run the Savegame Editor but it doesn't work. I have unzipped the whole editor and everything is in the same directory. I added in the TWEditor following path:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx256m -DTW.language=3 -jar TWEditor.jarI still receive following error:Exception during program initializationjava.io.IOException: Unable to locate The Witcher installation directoryTWEditor.Main.main(Main.java:166)I do not know why. The path should be correct. Does the editor not work without the installed version of the game???I use Windows7, 64bit

I have never tried to run the editor without the game being installed . But how have you got your saved game in the documents area . Should be should be a saves folder with all your game saves inside of The Witcher folder

One of the things the saved game editor does when it starts up is to load the templates of all the objects in the game. It's possible that those templates are included with the editor, but it would make more sense to load them from the game itself -- that way, they'd be sure to be up to date. If it needs the game to load those templates, then it won't start up properly without them.Certainly the error message "Unable to locate The Witcher installation directory" sounds like the saved game editor wants the game installed.

I made a back up of my old save before I unistalled/deleted the game. This is the only reason why it is not in the expected directory. You are right, normally it should be in a saves folder.

Thanks for your answer. I was not sure about it, but after your answer it makes sense that the editor needs the game. Maybe some one else can confirm this speculation.

Just a quick question- I've downloaded the editor, followed the instructions, and yet when I double-clicked on the modified shortcut, nothing happens, not even an error message. Any idea what's wrong? I haven't done anything, except modify the shortcut. Here's how it looks like:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx256m -DTW.install.path="C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher enhanced edition\" -DTW.language=3 -jar TWEditor.jar

I've got it downloaded have used it one time. since then, i've been unable to use it. the program launches but does not have an active window. i can see it on my taskbar but cannot open it or use it. i've tried uninstalling java etc nothing has worked. it goes through the template loading process but then after that... nothing..------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------5 hours later... i got it.. uninstalled the game tried to run it, got the 'unknown language' error. i suspect that this program does not work with the new 'editors cut' patch..

nope, didnt work either. still cannot see the program 'window' , but the 'archive' program works fine. must be something with the editor, i completely uninstalled the witcher, tried the save game utility on the installation version, on the updated 1.5 version as well with no joy. either my settings are jacked up or the program itself refuses to work on my system.

Do you have bigger blank window after the loading templates window closes ?If so then click file and then open which should list your saved games .

Tommy-I got the editor to work. Maybe I missed the instruction...but I ran the TWArchive .jar (which was working), kept it open, and then ran the TWEditor.jar (which still only worked with the r-click "Open With..." command), and it worked. Thanks for your help, and if I messed up by not following the instructions, sorry for wasting your time.

i tried this as well, didnt work. at this point im completely stumped. the program worked up until i installed the directors cut patch. since then it hasnt worked at all. i've removed all java and reinstalled it. i've removed the witcher game and reinstalled it. the archive utility runs perfectly. the save game editor does not. the editor runs its initial 'loading item templates" and remains 'active' on the task bar. but theres no active window after that.

there is NO window after the loading templates window closesi've used the editor a couple times previously. it stopped working after i installed the producers cut patch. i've reinstalled both the game and my java platform. i tried to find a 64bit java platform, but the java site only gives me one download option. the strange thing is that the archive utility requires the same java but works just fine. perhaps something with my machine. but doubt it. and for some reason cannot send messages to other players on this board...

I`m running 1.5 patch with director`s cut and have no problems with loading the save editor on Vista 64Try here for your java download http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp If you open the folder for the save editor and right click the shortcut and select properties then click the shortcut tab and in the target line the following line should be listed below . If it`s not then copy the line below and paste in the target line of your shortcut and retry%windir%\system32\javaw.exe -Xmx256m -jar TWEditor.jar

thats exactly whats showing as the target in the shortcut. neither the shortcut or the program itself are working. before installing the directors cut, i could simply double click the .jar and it would work. now neither of them work.

Does your executable jar file look like the attached pic. You might also select change and browse either to Windows/system32 and select javawWindows/SysWOW64 and select javaw

exactly the same file. tried switching the open location so the syswow and that didnt work. the program still behaves as if it will open, but after the inventory items load, it shows absolutely no window at all. %windir%\SysWOW64\javaw.exe -Xmx256m -jar TWEditor.jar the 'start in' box is empty.i've attached the error from the 'shortcut'. when trying the jar file by itself it does as before, loads the items and then nothing.

its possible that the shortcut direction is incorrect or improperly typed, maybe i missed a ". but at either rate shouldnt the .jar file itself function with or without the shortcut?im using windows 7 64 bit. witcher is installed in the X86 directory C:\Program Files (x86)\The Witcher Enhanced Editioni was able to use the editor a couple times. experimented by adding some potions etc. changed my armor out . now am unable to do anything else or switch back to the old armor due to the program no longer running properly. i made no changes or anything aside from installing the directors cut patch. once that was installed the program ceased to function properly.

Gotta love windows . Glad to hear it`s working for you now ! It may have been a glitch but wouldn`t hurt to run a disc check just in case there are any bad sectors on it or invalid entries .

I missed a trophy in act 1 and was wondering if I could go back to a save in chapter 1, beat the monster, save the game, unpack the save and apply the now completed trophy quest to my current save and repack it? Will that work with getting all 10 trophies?
