I'm 99% sure you know that the story in TW1, which took place five years after Sapkowski killed Geralt off, wasn't from the books. If this story is a continuation of that one, then wouldn't it have to be not from the books? If you think about it, most of the Polish and Eastern European players know the books, so if CDPR took a story directly from the books, there wouldn't be any suspense.
