TW2 def_shops

Hello!

I bought TW2 EE recently and I've been checking out mods for it. Some say that mods using def_shops per example, will be conflicting. I've been wondering if it's possible to just use Notepad and open the mods def_shops and just add the lines to the def_shops file that is already there from the first mod? And is it possible with other files as well?

Thanks!!!

Notepad is weird and sometimes adds extra characters that screw things up. But the free editor Notepad++ (that's Notepad Plus Plus) can edit such files, and yes, you can combine two simple mods that way.

It's fine to combine anything you want for your own use. Good modding manners suggest that you should get the permission of the authors of the original mods before releasing anything to the public, though.

Thanks for the answer!

I've noticed modders don't mention at all that you can add those other mods using something like Notepad, they just say their mods are not compatible with other mods concerning x file. So that is why I've been pondering whether doing that what the right thing to do or not. I use NotePad2 personally though instead of Notepad that comes with Windows.

I don't plan to mod at all, I have zero skills in that department. I just want to use the mods I want to use to play the game.

Anyone who releases mods to the general public has had experiences with users who can't follow the simplest directions. Some people find "unzip the file" to be an incomprehensible instruction, for example. So putting instructions for combining mods into one's mod description is asking for trouble. People who are capable of combining mods usually either figure it out on their own or ask for help, as you did. ;)

Have fun!
