TW2: Extreme Quality Flora Mod [Update: FCR compatibility fix]

What it does:
  • Dramatically increases grass rendering distance
  • Distant tree moss rendered
  • Full detail bushes/shrubs over entire fields
  • Maximum quality trees at any distance
  • Wind reactive flora as far as you can see
  • Grass pop-in completely eliminated
Videos:
Features trailer: http://youtu.be/_9ukL814wVY
Quick comparison: http://youtu.be/E2Pfl6KnueY

Versions (chose only one):
Extreme Quality Flora v1.0 (17.6 MB) - https://mega.co.nz/#!NoRVEK7Z!GXLjr1jPq1OyCV-R0GGlTT-lRx1JaRyB-deob_ipTcs
This version enhances the rendering distance and quality of all flora: grass, bushes, shrubs, trees, weeds, ferns, and so on.

Infinite Grass Render Distance v1.0 (8.6 MB) - https://mega.co.nz/#!N9xDCJRS!GS0Ji0uTFrlH1QIpuHh30mAinJ4nmCAYcWvqxeAI_gs
This version enhances the rendering distance and quality of grass only. Suitable for lower end systems and those who prefer performance over image quality. Do not use this mod if using the Extreme Quality Flora, as that already covers grass.

You can also download these mods from The Witcher 2 nexus:
Extreme Quality Flora: http://witcher2.nexusmods.com/mods/653/
Infinite Grass Render Distance: http://witcher2.nexusmods.com/mods/654/

Issue:
Users have noticed an incompatibility between Full Combat Rebalance and Extreme Quality Flora. After installing both mods, you will need this workaround. It's a small download and easy install.

Oh my god! I absolutely love this! You solved the biggest graphic problem in the game! Thank you so much for this mod!

Nice. No performance hit whatsoever with the infinite grass mod.

You're welcome! Be sure to read the readme included, because RED Engine clearly wasn't meant to push flora this hard, and CDPR's optimisations are there for a reason. Might require a little tweaking on the user end to find a balance in performance, as this mod hits the framerate hard.

Note that this will have a serious performance impact.

How big of an FPS hit is it?

on 1920 x 1080 I got about a 20 FPS drop . So on 1600 x 900 should be fine and dandy . Running a GTX560 Ti w/1 GB vram . Without the mod low 50 to about 60 and with the mod mid 30`s

Also note that I have the Steam version on "C" drive with your mod and GOG version on another drive with FCR 2 on the GOG version and yes both mods work separately just have to make a mental note of which game i`m playing and enable/disable the corresponding mod .

Yeah it's quite a shame it doesn't work with FCR2. I certainly do appreciate the mod though OP.

Thanks EatChildren

The readme says "The increased distance is basically infinity", so right now it's not possible to optimize with FoliageDistanceScale & MeshDistanceScale. am I right ?

And about the bright grass issue, maybe it's better to include the fix in your own mod, instead of making it compatible with other grass mods.

Looks great! Unfortunately the file sharing server seems to be very doubtful. Is there any way to load it on nexus.
Thanks.

Yeah, the 'infinity' is that the grass will render as far as your FoliageDistanceScale is set. Whatever that's set at, all grass up to that limit will be fully rendered. So it is in theory infinite, but still limited by whatever you set FoliageDistanceScale as. I do note it in the readme, that folk best tinker with a performance/distance value that suits them. 1 is standard, so try 2 or 3, or anywhere in between.

The mod could be optimised further by reintroducing the low quality LOD assets but pushing them back to a further distance. That would be the smart way to do it, but I'll only be able to if I have the time.

And yeah, you're right about the grass colour. Might be wise for me to pack in a fix with the mod.

Great mod. I was really pissed when grass was rendering 5 feet in front of me, but now the game is completely polished

Why not REDkit? Well, thanks anyways.
Does the infinite grass mod really not have an impact on the framerate?

Do you mean, why not upload to the REDkit mod website? If so, I'm trying. All mods have to be approved by CPDR before they appear, so I'm just waiting for them to give the thumbs up.
