TW2EE Low framerate issue

Hey, I recently purchased The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition, and even though my specs are above minimum and the game recommends that I play it on high, even on Low graphics my game laggs and jolts all over the place as if I'm getting a low FPS.

Only thing that stands out is that your GPU is somewhat below the minimum requirements (yes, even the 8800 GT is a little better than a GT 240), so you might have to experiment with the options so you can find the best balance between visuals and performance. Also, reducing resolution might be the best option to start first, as you can get significantly better performance that way.

Huh, I never realised it was that bad.. It always seemed to be able to handle Skrim on High.
Oh well it looks like I might have to turn down the resolution and order a new new GPU :D

Thanks anyway ^^

Skyrim isn't a benchmark for modern games, as its engine (Creation) is based on the 10 years old Gamebryo (at least that's what I heard, and I don't think that is just gossip), while TW2 is one of the most demanding games.

Anyway, the specifications of the two cards (GT 240 (left) and 8800 GT (right)):

Cuda cores: 96-112
Graphics clock: 550-600 MHz
Processor clock: 1340-1500 MHz
Memory interface width: 128-256 bit
Memory bandwith: 54,4-57,6 GB/sec

Also, the 8800 GT has a higher texture fillrate (33,6 billion/sec), but no exact data of the 240 here.

Information is taken from geforce.com

No problem. :)

After reading this I think I'm just going to give up on trying to get this game to work. How in the world does this game run on Xbox? What a nightmare.

Yep your video card is below minimum, that would be why. Btw before buying a new video card make sure you have a power supply powerful enough (enough watts) for whatever card you're planning to get.

It's not exactly the same game on the Xbox. Everything's been toned down, and the console gets pushed to its limit to barely maintain 30 FPS at 720p. Say, I bet you can run the game just fine on medium settings at 720p, no? Because from what I keep hearing/reading, the Xbox's version is close to medium PC settings.

Hi,

I have the same problem after upgrading to ee, but on a different pc.
At release a played on vista 64bit at 1920x1200 with high settings without SSAO, AA and now it's win7 64bit on the same machine.

It's even at 1280x800 and low settings unplayable any more (as soon a tree is shown, the framerate drops below 5 fps or something like that).

My machine:
- AMD Phenom II X4 940 (4x 3,00GHz)
- ASUS A3M32-MVP Deluxe
- EVGA Geforce GTX 260² Superclocked (55nm version with 216 cores)
- 4 GiB DDR3 RAM
- win7 64-bit with sp1

CPU ulilazation is below 40% through the "gameplay" and my GPU seams also not really like its doning all that much.

Any ideas or suggestions what I can do to resolve this problem or am I doning something terrible wrong?

It's lower than the PC's lowest setting actually. CDPR reduced a lot of things like NPCs.
