TW3 Addon

I know it will take quite a long time till TW3 releases but I hope there will be an Addon.

I just can’t wait to see TW3 releases but also I’m aware that this is probably the last part of Geralt as main character. So I have mixed feelings about it. As a fan I want as much stuff to play as possible, so I’m hoping for an Addon, if it fits in the story of course. Plus it would be the first real witcher addon ever!

Think what Bethesda did with Dragonborn to Skyrim was a great idea and CDPR could go for the same way. Maybe involving kingdoms like Kovir or the free cities in the north.

Depending on what the endings are gonna be I doubt that this is going to be possible story-wise. Unless they make it a prequel of sorts but I don’t know about that ...

I agree. It has been said many times that this is the end of Geralt's journey. Adding side quests DLCs could be cool (as it was done in TW2), but adding something that would take place after the ending... As the purpose of this 3rd episode is shown to us, it would not really make sense imo.^^

Well, it is possible to do it like Dishonored did, playing another person in that world. For example, we could have played a add-on for TW2 with Letho as the main character instead of Geralt.

Would be cool to have mods like this since REDkit is out.

I suppose you mean an expansion pack. A proper expansion like in the old days. In that case, TW3 might as well have something equivalent to Tales of the Sword Coast. That is, locations added to the map with high level encounters that will most likely be done near the end, but BEFORE the end.

Let's not call this DLC though. Ugh. If they distribute a proper expansion pack on a retail box I'd gladly get it.

This.

I'm not hoping for an TW3 Enhanced Edition I'm hoping for an real addon (or expansion, if you want to call it like that), that should be obviously placed before the end.

I would support that. A lot of the DLC these days is bad, but a huge add-on with a whole new area in it and dozens of quests, heck yes.

Thanks for sharing the link.

I take this as a promise from CDPR. ;)

Seriously, I really hope for an expansion.

Addon. As in DLC/Expansion?

Yeah sure. Why not. I'd love to see RED do that. And I'm sure they will. It seems like DLCs is all the rage today. Best way to milk consumers. Ah well...

EDIT: Though I should add, I don't have anything against an expansion. Those are usually bigger, more chunkier addons and I'm all cool with that. But DLCs are just money grabs. They're usually too short and too overpriced.

DLC is a disrespectfulcreative marketing strategy designed to rip offbenefit customers by removingoffering content that should have been part of the original the developers thought would be great for the game, sold at ridiculousaffordable prices :)/>

But hey, CDPR offers downloadable content free of charge, so that's great! The difference is, their content is actually something new that expands a little on their existing game. It's not a main character or a fucking GAME MODE! Imagine... TW2 Dark Mode, the way it should be played! Now for only $7.99! Heh.

Anyway, no. An expansion is something like Tales of the Sword Coast and Throne of Bhaal. These expansions include well around 30 hours of good, quality gameplay and expand on the premise of their respective original games. They also came in separate CD's with their own boxes. Other examples include Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising and, why not, Dragon Age Origins: Awakenings.

If CDPR releases a full-fledged expansion for The Witcher 3, I would gladly buy it. It shouldn't be more than $30. And it would probably be available digitally, but as a separate purchase/download altogether. And considering the open world approach of TW3, any given expansion will probably require the base game too. It would simply, literally, expand the original game by a significant amount.
