Kelpie is fast, beautiful and have a cool name, but it is a mundane horse, nothing magical. On the other hand, if you count unicorns as horses, they are very powerful magical creatures.

true kelpy is a normal horse but there is a spell placed on it that links the horse to a bracelet so that the owner can call on it at any time from any place and that is how i wish the devs will tackle this aspect..... it makes sence, respects the lore and also i hope that they make the horse run to you not just magicaly apear next to you. do a 5 sec wait, then show the horse run to you for 5-10 sec and done.

I really hope RED includes some funny easter egg and joke mounts.

I don't know about y'all, but I would love to ride one of these.

Cookie for reference ^^

I'm just glad that nothing was brought up concerning the horses sex preference and if the horse is a stallion, if his long dong should be occasionally shown (as in real world)! /s :)/>

Not sure if all the Mares Geralt calls 'Roach' are female, but I recall his horse is female.

So uh.. no Mr Hands DLC it looks like.

Moderator: Since the post about stallions was made to mock another forum thread that was locked for good cause, further discussion is not invited.

You're right about Geralt's horse, though; she's always a mare, and he always calls her Roach.

Meaning this kind of roach:

Heh, that's exactly how I'd describe it. Bethesda takes the crown for crappy animations. I love their games, but this is the one thing they never improve on.

Yeah this has been one of my major issue with bethseda games for a loooong time. Their game engine is atrocious, and their animations/physics/interaction with the world is just awful. Its so full of jank.

Anyway, on topic. From the little footage we've seen so far the horses in TW3 look promising. The animations and movement look pretty good at least. I hope they take inspiration from the horses in RDR.

Not exactly on topic but close enough...

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before but since we can now ride a horse and CDPR has implemented fully dynamic cloth simulation, I am hopeful we'll be able to put on a cloak while riding through bad weather or over long distances...just like in the trailer.

Reason? Among others, it just generally looks badass.
What's your opinion on this, guys? Y/N?

In case it hasn't been answered yet in these 3 pages of comments (Sorry, I don't currently have the time to read them all), Mr. Dogit, I recall watching an interview where a member of the CDP team said that mounted fighting was supposed to be quite limited or non-existent, since they want to make the games as lore-friendly to the books as possible, and Geralt only fought by foot in those.

So unless they change their minds, there's barely going to be any mounted combat (maybe none whatsoever).

Geralt is a Jedi, a monster slayer and a superhero. He's pretty much Batman 3.0 and deserves a horse that gallops like a batmobile.

Meaning horse mechanics on par with Red Dead Redemption O:

I got a feeling this will be way better than RDR in every way. Now that I think about it, the first time I played RDR I turned to my girlfriend and said CDPR needs to make TW3 like this but better. and guess what, they did.

Mounted combat should only be a small portion, mostly quick defensive or offensive sword (like a ride by slashing) fighting till he can unhorse. People don't fight on horseback with greatswords, they're too heavy and can actually be a hindrance because of the need for two hands. However, Geralt could be able to use signs on horseback relatively easily.

Not something I'm really looking forward to, games needs a couple of awesome, quick animations of Geralt hopping off his horse while drawing his sword.

Horse back fighting sounds like a real bad idea. It would look so stupid so thumbs down cdpr an just keep it realz.

I hope they keep the mounted combat, just hope they keep it simple, slashing fools at full speed a and a bit of hacking and slashing when not moving, nothing more complicated.

It's a fine line, I admit IF cdpr can pull it off and it looks PERFECT then YES I am all for it in moderation. But if Geralt does not do it in the books well... Hmm...

I just hope the devs doesn't make Roach stalk Geralt everywhere he goes. I want my horsie to stay put safe and sound in a stable(or wherever I leave her) until I choose to call her.
Say an option to toggle this would be nice. Horsie follow/horsie stay.

Player choice. :victory:

PC player only. Hadn't the honour to play Red dead redemption. :( But I'm thinking Assassin's Creed where your horsie followed you around almost everywhere. Cute and loyal, but I always started to think of my horsies well-being when going places I shouldn't. Just discovered post by @ReptilePZ and it seems this won't be an issue.
