It works all 3 ways, but right now it got taken down, maybe it was an accident or some issue came up, hold your horses.

You will never require GOG Galaxy for anything. The old downloader should still work.

Steam isn't owned by CDPR so they probably have to wait on Steam updating or something similar.

@GingerEffect I see you're reading the thread, Is the pre-load on GoG officially live? I saw some posts about it being taken down and now it's up again I'd assume. Or wait, was that take down about the steam version.

Ginger works for CDPR, not GOG

It's clearly not up since GOG Downloader and Manual are gone. Galaxy might be a serverside issue, I would suggest waiting lest like me you get a download that doesn't resume, you wouldn't want that now would you?
