TW3 Save game import

TW3 Save game import

Has there been any word on the compatibility of save games across platforms. i.e. If I were to get TW3 on the PS3PS4, would I be able to use my PC save game (from say a USB stick) for my new game?

I guess a further question is, has there been any word on whether your decisions from earlier games would even be carried over to TW3?

It's not coming out for PS3 or 360.
And if I had to make a qualified guess, I'd say there's no chance of importing saves between different platforms.

I assume you meant PS4?

We've heard that they were exploring ways of handling savegames from the previous games, but nothing about whether it would be possible, or how they're going to do it.

They are looking into ways of doing a console import, but they have to jump through the Sony/Microsoft hoop to do it and there are the technical problems of a cross platform save import.

I heard TW2 has an easy import "process" (haven't done it yet) and I beg CDprojectRED to keep it user friendly. I recently bought the ME trilogy for PC and it is a pain in the a** to try and import ME1 saves to ME2. I just hope CDRED keeps up with being user friendly to it's fans.

I hope that CDPR doesn't spend a lot of time or resources on making imports work. The mechanic is more trouble than it's worth. This is a new game, a new story, and a lot of things can change in a short amount of time anyway, so how things were left in TW2 shouldn't matter as much as the new material.

They should do what Dragon Age is doing with Dragon Age keep, and no their excuse that new players wouldn't know what to pick is a load of bilge.

When/where did they say that new players wouldn't know what to pick?

I like the notion of the DA Keep Bioware is planning, hope it lives up to expectations.
Even if they don't go this far i sincerely hope TW3 will have given sufficient resources to reflect the choices made over the previous games via the import function.

It was in an interview where they were asked about doing something similar to what Bioware did with the comics.

Bullshit. The situation in Kaedwen, or in Aedirn/Pontar or with the conclave changing in 6 months regardless of your choices? No it wouldn't.

As for it being worth little. Ask the millions of Mass Effect players who grew to genuinely give a shit about the characters in the trilogy because of how imports worked in ME3 especially. Sure the story was bad but they did take into account a lot of variables.

Finally, no it's not a new game: It's called Witcher 3, not Witcher open world all your previous choices mean jack shit. They said it themselves it's part of a trilogy, Geralt's journey that started in the first game with the story events of the previous games having a direct impact on this, especially those of TW2. ( Or what did Letho's assassination not weaken the North considerably for Nilfgaard to invade Temeria so easily? )

Join my small and isolated club. I think you and I are the only ones on the internets who feel this way.

I really hope they do decide on something similar to the Dragon Keep for DA:Inquisition. I personally didn't find the intro to Witcher 2 confusing for having not played the first game so I'm sure the Witcher 3 will be the same. I was a 360 player and played through the game at least seven times to get the ending I was really satisfied with but getting a PS4 ruled out all chances of a save transfer. I'll still get the game no matter what because I know it's going to be the greatest game in the history of gaming.

If anything at least please give us the major plot decisions where the comic scenes would transition. It'd be my dream to get those options />/>/> because for me ...

*(SPOILERS!!!)* I would chose would be sparing the Lavellet kid, siding with Roche, and Killing Henselt. I can never decide between saving Triss and going with Roach. Both are awesome endings to the game and each one really leaves the north in a pickle.*(END SPOILERS!!!)*

" IGN India: Good to know. On PC, would my older save games grant me some sort of bonus content or would my previous choices affect the game world in any way?

MI: I cannot confirm this yet, but we're definitely looking at it on the PC side. We don't want to disappoint our PC fan base as we know mechanics like this are very important to them."

check it here it's at the beginning

Imo this does mean that it isn't clear if the several endings and decisions of Witcher 2 are relevant for the whole story in The Witcher 3 which dissapoints me a huge leap and leads the whole idea of consequences which have an impact to the whole story to a cheap farce ...

I know something like this was discussed somewhere else but with the new interview I thought that I am in a position to begin a new thread.

Do I take the wrong conclusions out of this interview or has RED said something concerning this topic?

Personally I think "new" info does not justify new threads. Much of interest has been said before and wont be repeated by those who proffered it originally. It's best to add to already extant discussions, searching for them, reading what we already know, building on our knowledge, and avoids the appearance of....

Well, at least it seems safe to assume that imported decisions won't have a huge impact, if CDPR still sits on the fence about it, that far into development.

But it's probably not as bad as it sounds: most decisions influenced the political state of the Northern Kingdoms. TW3 is set at and beyond the frontline to Nilfgaard - which attacked the North, no matter the outcome of TW2 - and southern Redania - the most stable of the Northern Kingdoms, with Radovid alive and all.

Furthermore, we know that TW3 will feature a more personal story and won't delve as deep into politics as TW2 did - when it does, I expect it to be strategic decisions regarding the war or political conflicts on Skellige, both of which are not heavily influenced by TW2. Nor is Tretogor part of the game, or any other capital city, which eliminates the necessity of designing great parts of the game with Anais and the current monarchs in mind. Temerian lands that we can roam are war-ridden and in chaos, so that it's not that important who rules there if anyone. For all gameplay purposes, it seems to suffice that some sort of Northern army is involved in the war, without paying too much attention on which Kingdom contributes which part of that army. More in-depth consequences of TW2's decisions could be handled with dialogue, journal entries and occasional side quests.
