Hello.

I own both The Witcher and The Witcher 2. Played a lot of the first and I adore it, but never played the second installmente because my PC doesn't run it properly.

With this in my head, I decided I'll get The Witcher 3 at launch on PS4. And that's where my question enters:

Will there be an "Interactive Backstory Comic" available?

In case you guys don't know what it is, it's a Comic Book that tell's the story of the past games and gives you an option to choose between important parts of the previous games, and this way it creates a Save Game based on your options so you can continue The Witcher 3 like you actually played the previous ones.

Mass Effect 2 was the first game (I think) that have this option, and the "Comic Book" is called "Genesis".
And this E3 Bioware confirmed that Dragon Age Inquisition will have this too for those who never played the first two.

So, will this be available? Or is it at least on the plans?

We don't know that for sure yet, sorry. We have been told that it will be some kind of saving import system and probably an alternative for those who didn't play TW2 (or lost their files, as myself). But we don't know yet if that alternative will be a comic, or maybe will be integrated in a conversation (ME2 also had one of these).

Anyway, they made a video-comic recap of TW1 for TW2, so I think it's highly possibly they will repeat this move. Sorry mate.

He said it will be "reset".
That doesn't mean that we lose all our hard-earned dark mode amor and swords. We already saw the swords used in the trailers and screenshots.
But the power of the items should be reduced of course.
I have still hope.

i wanted to ask on the forums something really important for me, i played both the witcher and the witcher 2 on my pc, (amazing games btw) and im thinking on playing the third one on a ps4, is there ANY way that i can import my savegame from my pc into my ps4? i know you guys are one of the few companies that cares about costumers, and i would be really happy if i could continue the adventures of my geralt of rivia on the next gen instead of upgrading my always glitched pc. thanks

I think that they're considering to do something similar in the dialogue during the prologue (like in Mass Effect 2, where player could've chosen whether Anderson or Udina became Chancellor and some other decisions).
But they're not certain how and what exactly will be implemented as of yet.

Well, at least there will be this Recap video.
It's better than nothing. But this comic would be really useful because of the "Who do you choose to be on your side" kind of options in the previous games.

Even if they'd charge $5 for it (like Bioware on ME3), I'd buy it!

The Witcher 3 equipment in saves and choices

Hello people, I would like to know if The Witcher 3 will import the savegames from the previous game, and adapt the story to the choices you made on The Witcher 2. We all know that there are many choices involving TW2, specially towards the end of the game, which defines the fate of some very important characters.

Also, I would like to know if some of the equipment obtained in TW2 will be carried over to TW3, like the Gynvael Aedd silver sword, or the Operator´s Staff, like we´ve seen on TW2 with the raven´s armor and Gwyhyr.

Im sorry if such questions were posted before,.. I just would like to be sure, because I recently lost my saves, and I may have to start the previous games over.

There is no reason why your equipment shouldn't port over, since they did in Witcher 1 -> Witcher 2

In one of the fresh interviews one of the devs said that we'll be able to import the save to load the state of the world/decisions, but not the items. Besides, there'll be an questionary-like dialogue if you lost your save or played on another platform.

I have a question if somebody could please assist me.

I played Witcher 1 + 2 on Steam, so on my PC. I would really like to order Witcher 3 on gog.com, both for the bonuses and because the money goes straight to the developer. But I would like to know...

1. Will my save imports work even though the first two games were on Steam and non gog.com? Yes, I 'own' the games on Gog.com thanks to the backup thing, but I don't have saves.
2. Is there any way to get Steam achievements if I order on gog.com?

The first one is the only big issue for me. The second one is just something I'm curious about- it doesn't really affect my choice at all.

Thank you kind folks!

1. Savegames won't be an issue, as long as you're not saving exclusively to Steamcloud. If you are, download them to your local PC. The savegames on TW2 were compatible between the Steam and GOG versions.
2. At the moment, work on the assumption that no, there won't be a way of getting Steam achievements if you order at gog.com. This may change when we know more about GOG Galaxy, but right now, any answer other than "no" would be speculation.

Excellent. The speedy response is much appreciated. Time to go preorder the game on gog.com then. Cheers!

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said in interview for polygamia.pl, few day ago, that players who don't have saves from previous games can simply make choices in dialogs during the prolog. There will be sth like, Geralt will be refering to events from previous games few times i prolog and you can make those choices.

Application to made up choices from TW2

Hi all
Will there be any application where we can make up choices from The Wtcher 2 and then import them to TW3? Something like Dragon Age Keep where you can dictate how past events transpired in the recent history of the Dragon Age universe.

I think I read they will implement such a system in TW3 before you start the game, but I might be wrong. I'm really not sure at all.

Yes, they are looking for a way to implement such feature for people who don't have saves to import (i.e. ps4), but it's not 100 % certain though.

Well, That is good news. I have saves and just now, Im playing thru TW1 and TW2 but Im planing to play TW3 few times to try the effect of choices you have made in TW2 so It would be pain to play Tw2 everytime before I will play TW3 again.
Sorry for my english.

If they don't, I'm sure we'll put together a catalogue of savegames for people to download. I have most permutations already, I think.

I really hope they have some sort of import feature for consoles. I managed to play the first game via my boot-camped macbook but it simply could not handle Witcher 2, even on bare minimum settings, so I had to play the console version. Hearing little things that contradicted my choices in the first game, such as Adda being dead when I saved her, were expected but still disappointing, along with little references imported versions had that I saw on YouTube but not in my game. As I'll be playing 3 on a next-gen console I'd again be disappointed to hear Roche was the chosen path even if I wanted to follow Iorvath's, and vice-versa.

Hopefully they do something like the Dragon Age Keep Bioware has. Having a cloud-based import system that lets you import world states regardless of platform is quite handy.

How do you think the Import system is going to work exactly

I have countless Witcher 2 save files on my storage device, so its kinda hard to differentiate between them all. How do you guys think CD Projekt Red will handle the importing?

Yes this might become troublesome. The import system in TW2 didn't show anything about the choices you made in TW1 and if you had multiple end-savegames you could only really keep them apart by their number.

wow that would be awesome (as a console owner who played the previous games on pc)
at least that way it would still feel like my playthrough and not some default choices
