TW3 & The Kinect for xbone

I am a little worried about TW3 and the kinect. I think it is a real stupid idea and a waste of time.
To be honest, I see no way for CDPR or any devs here on planet earth to ever make this thing cool or even fun.
And I fear it will only hurt the review of this game for xbone. I mean did microsoft say to the red team..
"Hey, add nerdy voice commands for our spy cam and we will front you some cash".
Oh man..Good luck trying to program that extra last min crap. Cause of Delay maybe..?
I don't see or hear anyone talking about how cool the kinect is or how awesome it will be in TW3. (yeah) Because it won't be awesome .I say flush it now, or add it on as free dlc later but only if you have to. So devs can get back to doing things that really matter for this game. Like polish game play and the rest of the Amazing High Art that IS The Open World of TW3 ;)
TY CDPR TEAM.

'Xbox, Plough'

I think CDPR can probably come up with some cool features for the Kinect. I remember in one of the interviews Konrad talking about using the Kinect for hand gesture recognition to cast Signs - that'd be awesome. Don't know how many people would bother to learn the hand gestures but it'd still be a pretty neat feature...

No, those features seem pointless. They would require a completely different game. One, where I want to exercise. Mixing in gestures into a classic genre seems out of place. (Besides nobody has convinced me yet, that those devices work reliably to warrant as games input, when accuracy is needed.)
Well, don't play consoles anyway though. ;)

It sounds like a good idea on paper but it would be completely useless in reality. Might be fun to mess around with for 2 minutes while roaming the world but Kinect is just not precise and responsive enough for it to be used in combat when you need split-second responsiveness...plus you need to let go of the controller. However, it could make sense for some voice commands like activating the map or witcher senses. Nothing more than that.

Precisely why it's an optional feature. Obviously, all of the Kinect commands for a game that's not built from the ground up with it in mind will be gimmicky. Personally, I find the idea of using hand gestures to cast signs to be more interesting than voice commands ot saying a line and then having Geralt say it again.

Thanks for your feedback. Actually Kinect features and PS4 controller abilities are something we are looking into but we don't want to have them in the game just "because". If we do implement them, they will serve their purpose:)

Kinect and Xbox1 - since kinect is useless and Xbox1 is turning to be a multimedia center I don't see it worth investing time and money into implementing anything of it in TW3

You'd have to arrange it so that all actions in combat and exploration could be carried out with controller gestures. Gestures don't have to be authentic; nobody expects anything like a simulation of trained swordplay. They just have to be learnable, and the controller has to be sufficiently responsive. To my thinking, it beats hell out of mouse QTEs.

There's no conflict if the only things you have to fall back to the keyboard for are things like alchemy and inventory, character, and game management.

That's what my mind jumped to, voice commands to switch between signs, traps, bombs, throwing knives, steel or silver sword, or turn on witcher senses, go to your inventory, journal, etc. Playing on the computer I'd sometimes hit the wrong key when trying to switch too quickly between signs. Hand gestures would require taking a hand off the controller which could mean death.

With kinect sooner or later you'll get tired of waving and yelling at your TV, but using the ps4 touchpad as an option to navigate the map is always nice.

Means a waste of time for CDPR and gimmicky features for the game. I'm hoping for 'next gen' grid inventory instead.

Kinetc features for combat sound fun but not practical (like casting Yrden when fighting the Kyran the device may try cast axii or something :p ) but I bet it would be pretty fun for something like the fighting mini game, maybe even arm wrestling type things.

If CDPR and other devs can come up with something cool for kinect, why not? Sitting on a butt for hours and pushing the same buttons over and over sounds awfully boring, by the way. If kinect can add variety and be precise enough, I wouldn't mind. I am not going to buy xbox because right now I do not like paying for kinect, but it might change one day. Eventually I want true VR games, but I don't think any controller will be any good for them. So some movement and voice recognition technology should be developed, and kinect is not such a bad start.

I think Kinect and other gimmicky features like this, is just a waste of precious development time. Sure, it can be implemented well, but the amount of people, who would use it is very low, compared to how much time it takes to implement. Even if it was just voice commands - it's just awkward, especially, when there are people around you.

You have to make the appropriate sounds and hand gestures and then you get an achievment for your conquest. ;)
