You are right.Only thing that I didn´t like about swords in Witcher 2 was that they were...well...just loot(I mean there were too many swords for such small game).
Let's think about Skyrim (because everyone knows this game). You can become a smith and make your own swords. You can loot enemies. And so on. There are tons of swords in this game. But still many people cherish Sanquine's Rose or Mace of Molag Bal because you have a quest about obtaining them and Daedra Princes personally give them to you. And don't forget about Dragon Priest Dagger - there are only few of them and they are unique. I used console to get it because I just couldn't find them naturally.I don't understand your point of view at all. Are you saying you want less swords? Or less unique swords? That doesn't make sense to me. I want more.
So if you have many different items to choose from, that offers more choice to the player and that allows players to carve out more of their own personal style or way they want to play the game. It makes more of a unique experience for each individual player.
Nooo...Apart from Aerondight, the swords in the Witcher 1 are just loot. Mahakaman Rune Sihil and the Moonblade are a reward for a tricky quest, one of collecting teeth and the other for monster heads.
They MUST!Wonder what we'll get carried over from our Witcher 2 playthroughs. Would be very glad if CDPR continued the tradition from 1. Please devs, make it so.![]()
Yeah, I love the scene and dialog that plays when you pick up this sword. It is pretty sweet. If any one sword is to be imported, I would opt forAddan Deith.the sword of Aramil, who fled the Wild Hunt:
Well I liked Caerme as well. :I had a moment of misremembering - that was the sword I meant too, not Caerme
Same here, but I cant shake the feeling that I'm using a weaker sword just for the hell of it, and to me that really diminishes the experience, but I'm not saying we should have lots and lots of useless swords, what I'm saying is that think we shouldn't have to make that sacrifice, if you like a sword design you should just be able upgrade it until it's max dmg lvl, so we would have less swords(not too few though) and the majority would be useful, after all, damage alone is such a boring stat, if they made the majority of swords upgradable to have the same max dmg they would be free to make each sword unique in other ways, like special abilities and perks(which imo are way better than boring damage levels). So never again we would have to go through that old RPG situation" Ooh just found an awesome sword!! omg it looks so cool!! It has a freaking griffin's claw on the hilt !!Oh wait mine is stronger -cries and throws new sword away-About stats. Maybe it's me, but in every game I play I quickly become bored with comparing swords stats and choose them based on their looks or find the one I like most and use it for the rest of the game. It's only numbers: this one is 11-15 and that one is 12-14, which one to choose? I will choose the one that gives my hero the most cool look.
Different scabbards would be a really nice touch, the VGX trailer made me wonder if they'd put that in as well.Regarding armor I think it will be more like TW2 but I have to admit that I would really like to see them going for a more deep system like Kingdom ComeI wonder if every sword will have different scabbards and how Geralt armor will be split on components - like in Witcher 2 or like in Kingdom Come deliverance where we can choose everything -under garments, torso armor, spaulders, greaves, leggins, chauses, bracers, gauntlets and gloves and other stuff ?
Frankly I very much dislike how the weapons were implemented in Skyrim. I mean, by the time I stumble upon some named "special" piece of equipment, I already have a weapon that far surpasses it in every way. I found no reason for using Dawnbreader or Axe of Whiterun or whatever, as it would be suboptimal and effectively a handicap. Especially since the story behind any such piece of equipment didn't have any relevance to my character nor to the world.Let's think about Skyrim (because everyone knows this game). True, there is that situation, but I remember the freedom you were given as a blacksmith in Skyrim. If we have that you might work that 'cool sword' you just found instead of throwing it away. But it will still be that very same situation(you finding another cool sword but your own is better) and we have a catch 22 on our hands(or more like the never ending story). Because you will probably shape that sword and mend and go to extremes. I ended up, by quite clever means I might add, with two ebony swords doing tremendous amounts of damage in Skyrim. Sure, daedric swords had done more damage had I worked them instead, but I never cared much the thought of wielding swords from hell.Ooh just found an awesome sword!! omg it looks so cool!! I believe you mean G'valchir which is the same as Mahakaman rune sihil. One of my favourites too. :lol:Gwalchica (I think it was spelled that way) was my fav. looking sword in TW2. I'd also like to see TW1 style silver swords in TW3.
Nope I've just checked, it's Gvalchca:I believe you mean G'valchir which is the same as Mahakaman rune sihil. One of my favourites too.
I've installed a mod that lets me buy all the items from any bartender, so that's where I've gotten it. I'm pretty sure it was cut out of the official version of the game, but was still left in the DB (not sure though). So I'm glad I've installed that mod since I probably would've never found my favorite looking sword in the game.Dont remember that silver sword in game. Where did you get that ?
Well it wasn't Gwalchica at least.Nope I've just checked, it's Gvalchca:
Yeah, I understand what you say. Clearly the 100% is understandable, but still I went with the weapons I wanted in Skyrim. In Witcher 2 as well for that matter. I even completed every set of cursed armour/swords then completely discarded the blades in favour of 'lesser' blades, simply because I really(really) hated the blurred vision and sound whenever Geralt drew the blades.@Bellator Pius Gratus Yes but skyrim had that same problem, at the end of the day the daedric set was still the strongest. and every player that wanted to get his character to 100% was forced to use it.
