UI problems with Steam download

I downloaded the game off Steam because of the sale, but there's a problem with the UI.The intro movie and developer stuff comes up fine, but as soon as I get to the main menu, it screws up. I can't see anything but the text. The background doesn't appear, but I can see "New game", "Load game" etc. perfectly, I can even click on them and the do the job.I loaded a save from the demo and the UI is messed up in game too. Everything is black, there's just black squares instead of health bars and all that.The demo ran fine, no problems at all, and I really don't fancy re-downloading the whole 15 gigabytes through Steam again, took forever!Any suggestions?

Have you uninstalled the demo in case of compatibility issuesHave you verified the file integrity through steam

I'm having the same problem.I'm experiencing odd black patches everywhere (see the following screenshots: http://s136.photobucket.com/home/AdmiralChaos/tag/witcher).Computer setup is:AMD Phenom II x4 945 processor (3GHz) (quad-core)4 GB RAMWindows 7 Home PremiumRadeon HD 4800 (Saphire)Just got the newest drivers for my graphics card and reinstalled directx 9c just in case, same problem persists though. Any ideas?edit: ran the file verification through steam, 100% checked out.edit2: Steam just released a patch that appears to have fixed the problem. Woot!
