Unable to find Petri's Philter

I have searched high and low but I simply can't find this potion. I've been to locations suggested elsewhere including Drahim Castle and an underwater cave.

Can't remember what I found in the castle but it wasn't Petri's Philiter. In the underwater cave I found Vampire Potion.

I have the advanced Petri's Philter potion but simply can't find the basic recipe. How do I get it?

Try the Herbalist that lives somewhere north of Oxenfurt, he sells a bunch of recipes. Otherwise, the recipe drop is random...
Hope you'll find it at the herbalist though.

Thanks! That worked; I was able to find Petri's Philter there plus a couple of others.

Now I just need to find the basic Cat recipe.

This one is so important that I'm surprised that they don't just give it to you at the beginning of the game.
