Unable to fire ranged weapons

+
Hello,
Having issues with gameplay and the technical support page is being difficult. I'm trying to upload a zipped version of the three files in my save file but even zipped it is 2.5mb and the upload limit for save file is 2mb. In addition when I try to upload into the regular file upload option that says the file limit is 12mb, it will not allow me to upload my 2.5mb file. This means the technical support report page won't even let me submit a report. Here is what I wanted to report:

Sometime after act 1 I noticed I was unable to shoot any ranged weapon. I play with throwing knives and the throw and melee work fine. When I equip a gun I can aim-down-sights but the trigger pull does nothing. This is the same issue on all guns I try equipping. I verified game files and tried reloading past saves and restarting the game multiple times which does not work. I play using a PowerA controller mapped to xbox controls and every other function works fine except shooting guns. Running on PC via steam on the latest update.

Any thoughts or ways for me to properly upload into the technical support page?

Hi,
So it's three saves which "weight" 2.5MB? Or just one save?
I don't remember someone having "size" issue to upload save files in the past but I could be wrong. So if yes, just one should be fine.
And about your issue and just to be sure, do you use or ever used mods?

In each save file there are three separate files that the technical support page requests. When these files are compressed I'm only getting them to 2.5mb. Uncompressed it's around 2mb. I don't use mods. For awhile I thought it was a narrative thing in the game since I'm a sidequest fiend. Started Act 2 and before I met Takemura in the diner I've completed all of my Watson gigs for Regina. Didn't realize I couldn't shoot until I equipped a gun to try out. Got through everything with throwing knives which seem to still work.

Ok, that's a bit annoying. Not sure I understood, you say that compressing the folder its size is 2.5mb, but uncompressed the size 2mb? If yes, it's very strange because compression is suppose to decrease file size, not the opposite.
Did you tried to quickly start a new game to check if it work or if you encounter the issue also?

Sorry, uncompressed is 3mb. I'll try starting a new game. Will report back

Started new game just to try it out. Realized that my controller won't shoot but mouse1 will. Very odd since I'm still able to swing my melee weapon and throw so I know the controller button works...

Thread moved!

A very important consideration:

Are you using mods, or have you ever used any in the past?

Hello,
Thanks for moving to new thread. Never used mods. Tried using a new game and found out that mouse1 is able to fire the gun but my controller trigger cannot. This is odd because I'm using the default controller layout and I'm still able to swing my melee weapon and throw weapon so I know my controller button works. May be that "fire ranged weapon" is mapped to something else on my controller which I'm not aware of.

If it still doesn't work on a new run and a new save, it's unlikely tied to any of your saves. So maybe not that helpful to send a save to the support anyway (if someone else load your save on a his computer, it will work fine).
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the game should recognize your controller natively without needing any third party stuff. So check if in case, Steam controller is disabled to avoid interferring with the game (or anything which could also interfer).

Yes I agree. The weird thing is that in Act 1 I didn't have any issues with using guns. This is using the same controller setup and no changes to the settings in steam or in game. I'm not exactly sure when this bug started to occur since I was using exclusively throwing knives for awhile. Running through the story mission in Cloud is rough since I'm picking up guns and I can't shoot, and obviously all of my weapons were confiscated in the beginning of the mission.

Ok :(
So be sure to check in the game settings if everything is fine (you can try to reset to default just in case). Check if everything which could interfer with the controls is disabled (like Steam Controller). And if nothing work, send a ticket to the support.
At first, I don't you need to send a save files because I don't think it will be useful (they probably won't be able to reproduce the issue by loading it).

From the sound of it, you may have a peripheral issue. It sounds like your controller may not be triggering the inputs. Could be as simple as dust in the unit.

Does that same controller work correctly with other games? (I've not heard of anyone being unable to fire their gun before.)

Side note:

You're not using a Guiikit King Kong 1/2 gamepad are you? I got taken for a loop, as there's a button on the controller that toggles between Xbox/Windows, Android, Nintendo, and "D"...whatever that is. (Don't remember.)

It through me for days before I noticed the tiny button on the front.

Me either, but I found this on the net :
first of check your controller on this website -> gamepad-tester.com

in my case i only got 0,25 on both of my triggers (instead of 1,0)
thats why i could still drive with a car, but not quite as fast
in cyberpunk shooting seems to trigger at >0,75, which the controller couldnt reach

in my case i could resolv my problem as follows:
1. Uninstall every xbox controller related driver
2. install this xbox driver ->
3. if you connect your controller via cable directly to you pc now the value should go up to 1,0
-> the problem seems to be in the wireless adapter
4. connect the wireless adapter and auto-install the drivers
5. navigate to the device manager -> you should have a usb device for you controller there -> select "select driver from from a list on the local computer" -> the driver name should be "XINPUT compatible HID device"
6. connect your controller wireless as usual

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!! So I'm using a PowerA controller which allows a lot of customization. On the back of the controller there are sliders where I can change the amount of "travel" the trigger takes before registering a press. This is interesting because for melee attacks I didn't have any issues with a "partial" press of the trigger; however for shooting it required me to not only press until the end stop of the trigger, but to mash it really hard. I deepened the amount of travel and for some reason the issues all resolved. I was driving myself crazy since I know it wasn't a dead button because I was still able to melee and I had set everything to default and turned off steam controller etc.

I appreciate everyone's help and I feel a bit dumb. Not sure why this controller at it's shortest travel setting for the trigger requires a "hard push" whereas a longer travel gives me the button activation before I "bottom out." This also shows that Cyberpunk codes in such a way that the melee is activated at a slight trigger press whereas to shoot it require the "full" press.
