Upgrades and FPS

I need advisement of a sort. I'm planning to purchase a new monitor for gaming...trading 16:10 for 16:9 to get more visual real-estate, and I'm considering making the jump to 1080p. Given TW2's demand on performance, I thought it prudent to ask beforehand from those with a bit more experience: taking into account my CPU and GPU (AMD Phenom II 970 BE and XFX Radeon HD 6850 single GPU), would I notice a performance hit on the move to 1080p from 1440x900, which is what I currently use?

Yes, you would. That's about 35-40% more pixels which have to be rendered per frame, resulting in a similar decrease in framerate.

Your system should still be good for high to ultra (without ubersampling) settings though - it's a solid mid-range to lower high-end rig. Most games are ported from consoles these days and their requirements are rather low, so you shouldn't have any problems or have to make any sacrifices (apart from less anti-aliasing in some games) in most of them when using 1080p.

Long story short: Go get it!
