Useless Items. (Possible Spoilers Within)

Hi there,

I have played through the game now a few of times, and one thing I have noticed is that there are no more permanent alchemical mutations from monsters, also defeating a difficult monster rarely gives you anything useful.

A couple of examples of this are the Arachas in the first chapter and the Draug in the 2nd chapter.

Unless you score the diagram for the Daerg Ruahdri from the nekker cave chest (not likely) you will never make the armour from those ingredients. The armour you get is just not as good as the other stuff from chapter 3.

Also by the time you actually get to create the Draug Armour, there are much better armours available (like the Vran Armour, I mean as soon as you get to the Elven city you go into the sewers and get the diagram and just make it right away).

I find that really disappointing. I mean it just seems ill-thought out and kinda redundant to me. I would much prefer to have gotten an alchemical ingredient and a formula for a permanent mutation like the first game (perhaps giving you a unique ability or a point to spend in your talent tree somewhere, maybe even a unique mutagen). The Draug is the worst example of this.

I was expecting something that was a massive upgrade only to learn I can't make the armour till act 3 and it's a waste of time doing so anyway, so you don't really get anything for killing the thing except some exp. That certainly doesn't seem like an adequate reward for something so difficult.

Anyways, I hope CDPR read this I think it's very important when considering game satisfaction and balance. Would love this flaw fixed in future releases, or perhaps even patched so you can use the Draug Armour in the battle of Vergen.

I definitely agree, especially on the permanent mutagen part. I prefer those over redundant armor.

And I think they can be bold when it comes to permanent mutagens. I don't know, maybe a mutagen from the Arachas can give Geralt the ability to camouflage and turn invisible for a few seconds.

A valid point.

Yes, I'd definitely like to craft Draug Armor in Ch2, since it pretty much is redundant in Ch3.

Agree I liked TW1 armors and swords better. You can finish the game with the sword and armor you have in the beginning. I hate how the world is littered with armor Witcher armor shouldn't be common and should be rare as hell. Weapons and Armors should have quests(that make sense) or should be really expensive to make(and getting a diagram from a Troll is just dumb). Armor should come from designers and craftsmen not corpses of people(Ceadric and the Nilfgardian sorcerer).

I like the fact we get new armors though. I don't want to be stuck with the same one for most of the game like in TW1.

Just would like better armor earlier without modding . Chapter 3 is alittle late .

There are TONS of crafted items in Ch. 2 that you'll never use. All the crafted silver swords, for instance, are useless because you'll already have a better drop before they even become available. All of the crafted armor, as well. The loot progression in this game is very linear, just like the level progression. Really, there is no reason at all to have "levels" in the game. They only serve as a vehicle to deliver skill points. Most RPGS use levels to restrict gear/quests, and to stagger difficulty of mobs/zones (higher level zones, lower level zones, appropriate level zones); but Geralt is always shepherded to the right zone at the right level, and gear/quests have no level caps. This is why, imo, Tw2 is much more of an Action RPG than a straight RPG.

I like the new armor variety in TW2, but what's wrong with changing your armor only a few times in a game like this? How often do you think a witcher at work goes shopping for the newest trends in armor?

At least TW1 made you feel like a change in armor and/or weapons was very significant. In TW2, I dare say, we upgrade or are given the chance to do it way too often, like changing underwear.

On the other hand, I agree with the issue of crafting several seemingly important items too late (or not soon enough).

i think they should make the armour system more like, ok ur a withcer u can make armours out of the componets from the monsters u kill(Keyaran armour for example), or/and receiving some as reward from completing certain quests, not just having 1k + of armours on the game that almost nobody would ever use or even find....

making and desingning all those armours( leaving apart all the worthless items that u can find ingame) would have required a hugge amount of time and hard work.. time that could have been used to something more productive in my opinion....

me for example only use:

-Raven armour(til i make Keyran armour)
-Keyran armour(til i get the "dont remeber name" armour from Daethmoth(or Henlsel dont remeber) on chapter 2 roches path.
-"The dont remeber name" armour (til i find "the one needed to make the Vran" on chapter 3)
-"the one needed to make the Vran"(til i make the Vran)
-Vran armour

thats 5!!!!! out of almost 1000!!!! same can be said of the swords!!!
..why wasting so muhc time making so many useless stuff ?
