Useless Items. (Possible Spoilers Within)
Hi there,
I have played through the game now a few of times, and one thing I have noticed is that there are no more permanent alchemical mutations from monsters, also defeating a difficult monster rarely gives you anything useful.
A couple of examples of this are the Arachas in the first chapter and the Draug in the 2nd chapter.
Unless you score the diagram for the Daerg Ruahdri from the nekker cave chest (not likely) you will never make the armour from those ingredients. The armour you get is just not as good as the other stuff from chapter 3.
Also by the time you actually get to create the Draug Armour, there are much better armours available (like the Vran Armour, I mean as soon as you get to the Elven city you go into the sewers and get the diagram and just make it right away).
I find that really disappointing. I mean it just seems ill-thought out and kinda redundant to me. I would much prefer to have gotten an alchemical ingredient and a formula for a permanent mutation like the first game (perhaps giving you a unique ability or a point to spend in your talent tree somewhere, maybe even a unique mutagen). The Draug is the worst example of this.
I was expecting something that was a massive upgrade only to learn I can't make the armour till act 3 and it's a waste of time doing so anyway, so you don't really get anything for killing the thing except some exp. That certainly doesn't seem like an adequate reward for something so difficult.
Anyways, I hope CDPR read this I think it's very important when considering game satisfaction and balance. Would love this flaw fixed in future releases, or perhaps even patched so you can use the Draug Armour in the battle of Vergen.
