Let's hope not too long

Some people would call this an open world sandbox survival game. It is, but, it's also one of the most immersive RPGs I have ever played. It's mechanics are incredibly eloquent. The world generation is superb. The graphics are great even with( or maybe because of) the 90's style textures.
The build system makes it pretty easy to create something impressive.
The whole thing comes together to create a very satisfying and incredibly atmospheric setting.
I bought this game in a sale. I wasn't expecting much from it. I was very pleasantly surprised by just how good this game is.

And now some gratuitous screen shots :)

PS: Is it intentional or a bug that we can no longer embed tweets using the "media' option on the forum? Is it on X side or something changed on the forum?

It appears the site's URL has been changed from twitter.com to x.com a couple of weeks ago. Might be the reason. I don't know anything about how the embedding works, though.

I never used the Media button, instead simply pasting the link in the message editor. Now, however, seems even that doesn't work anymore -- which definitely makes me think it's because of changes on X's end.

Ok. Well not a real issue, a screenshot works just as well :)

I really like that simple graphics. Walking around meadows is very enjoyable and if just possible, I always make my main base there. Purely because of landscape.

But yes, it does look funny among those other three (great games, all!).

Well, when the game is good, graphics doesn't matter too much. But light effect in Valheim are pretty gorgeous. I really like when the sun rise and pierce through trees in the black forest (after painfully mining all the night for copper with the "cold" debuff^^).

4 days remaining... Can't wait! I bought a new mouse just for Valheim (Mac magic mouse are not that great for playing and I can't use my "old" logitech because of USB connector size). Beside, from what I understood, apparently, it's possible that PC mods would work on Mac too (not sure, I'll see that soon enough).

I just reached Mystlands on my Xbox, but I'll scrap it and restart again ;)

Honestly, I wish more games prioritized gameplay and the size/scale of the game over graphics the way Valheim does. Heck, PS1 era graphics are really not that bad either (anyone who has seen games like Vagrant Story, or the Fist of the North Star on the PS1 will tell you that you can make a game look gorgeous even in low-poly). Plus a stylized art direction will usually end up becoming more iconic and memorable to the gamers rather than 'oh boy another attempt to mimic real life'. The amount of gameplay value you can get out of something like that is immense once you start pouring resources into other parts of the game, in essence.

My favourite moment in Valheim was still me and my friend getting attacked by a huge serpent at sea in the midst of a storm, forcing us to row as fast as we could for land, only for a huge wave to throw us onto the shore, shattering our boat.. but also tossing the serpent onto the cliffs too, trapping it helplessly for us to hack to pieces.

I've also had memorable experiences with serpents, all but one of them when I've been playing multiplayer with a couple of friends.

The first time I encountered a serpent was in singleplayer, and by some miracle the serpent never attacked even though I sailed right by it. That was lucky.

Another time multiplayer lag threw me out of our longship (I was standing up to be able to use my bow), and I ended up getting eaten by the serpent that was chasing us. It was funny, though.
Recovering the tombstone took a while, as it was far from any land.
We've had many adventures with serpents, sometimes ending in a death or few. It's definitely one of the most epic parts of the game, battling (or fleeing from) a serpent in a thunderstorm and/or at night. Two serpents is even more so, but it's only happened once that I recall.

Still enjoying this game a lot. Two latest biomes haven't been my favorites, but latest one at least seems to be somewhat okay after you get used to it. And I have to admit, that Ashlands gives you some really impressive toys if you happen to be a mage. Like, really impressive. First few visits there weren't so enjoyable, though... Not quite sure how well mage works in singleplayer, but at least if you are playing with friends, I can definitely recommend having one mage in a group.

One of the top greatest things in Ashlands are also the new building pieces! Finally we are able to make stone buildings that actually look beautiful. Thinner stone walls fit nicely together with darkwood roofing. Mistlands also gave some new building materials and pieces, which also basically look cool, but they look just as heavy as old stone structures. Bog witch update also gave us the option for "feasts", which can also give rather impressive boost to your decoration. Thank you @SigilFey for shoving how that stuff works. At first the feasts didn't interest me at all, but when I saw them first time in action... oh boy.

Mistlands is still clearly a number one in my "most annoying biomes" list. I can't seem to find any way to enjoy the exploration in that area, but if you like challenges and combat, then it maybe could be your thing. Visuals are a big part of fun in exploration for me, and well, there aren't any visuals in Mistlands  Still very interesting to see how the last biome turns out to be. Maybe we could get it this year? I hope.

I guess these pics could be posted in several threads, but let's use this one for a change. Some mods have been used for planting and landscaping. Chilling in our base, which is, eventually, supposed to be expanded as a small village. Few houses are missing from the picture, but those are bit further away. This is the main area of the base including a portal hub, feast hall, "barn", smithy and one house.

Development Blog: Wildlife Wonders
"Greetings vikings!
Another month has gone by and it’s time for another peek into the development of Valheim. We’re happy to see that so many of you seemed excited to follow Hervor Bloodtooth on her Deep North journey, and thus we’d like to share Part 2 with you!"

Awwww so cute... seels? Whatever they are, can't wait to get new content again!

I'm also hoping that there is still some more to come after the last biome. At least in the swamps we have seen those mysterious round stairs going under the water. There has to be a meaning for those too

Oh yeah they're are really cure!
But I'm afraid that some of these cute "seals" will end as carpets or comfy cloak & boots. It seems terrible be but I will have to survive to the harsh cold... It's my survival against their, after all :p
