Valheim

Oh, interesting! I have a bunch, but they will shot at you also no? Well, the area is big enough to place a bunch at the top level and give a shot (I have almost an entire reinforced chest).
I'm not sure. Never tried it. You do get electrocuted if you get near the eitr refiner...but you can drop eitr itself on the ground without it zapping you. I'd assume it only goes after the mobs. Cool mechanic for crowd control if someone doesn't want to use staffs or summons.

Yep, I can't wait also. But if it's even more dangerous than Ashlands, it will be something :D
I almost die and loose all my stuff even before touching the shore... I never died in deep water ever, but I assume if you boat is destroyed and you die in the middle of deep water, all of your stuff is simply "gone", no?
It's rough, but fun! I found getting a foothold is way harder than other biomes, and the pressure is more or less constant. Once you have a base, you're still not secure. Won't spoil it for you, but go in with a plan to leave again -- quickly.

I doubt I'll make it to Mistlands, let alone Ashlands, before early access ends. :coolstory:
Heh...I know that feeling well. My latest world, which I haven't touched in ages, I'm on day 200 or 300 something, and I'm still building my plains castle. (Doing a version of that "candle" castle that I did way back when. This one is much smoother.)

I tend to build in Meadows and Black Forest for at least 100 days before moving on. I like building. I like it a lot...

Yeah, I'll will give a shot. I will try on the top level and they won't despawn anyway. I will be able to pick them up after.

My "original" plan was like I always do. Find a "safe" biome next to the biome I want to go into. Then build a little safe base and then go explore on foot. Once I find a "nice" spot, I spam a bunch of campfire on a big area to stop mod spawning and in theory, after that, I'm safe to build a little base.
But I already follow a little chunk of Ahslands shores and I doubt I will be able to find any "safe" biome (even mistlands would be fine) next to ashlands without water between. So at worst, I will search the closest safe land to Ashlands shore and will go with this first.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little bit scared and way less confident, since my first contact :D

Someone I spoke with once told me that if you drop refined eitr, they act as turrets and shoot at her and the mobs. If you bring enought of them and place them around the level, individually dropping them, they'll pick off the lil' bugs and chip away at her for as long as they last. Never tried it myself, but it seems like an interesting use of eitr.

I saw this on You Tube somewhere. I think it was one of those pacifist/no weapons runs, where weapons were not allowed, so the Tuber killed the Queen with Eitr. And the trick was indeed to drop the Eitr one by one as piles of... 19 balls/pile? And then there was specific amount of those piles around the chamber. Can't remember the details anymore.

Maybe it was you that showed me. That sounds about right. I don't remember all the details, but the "specific number of eitr per pile" thing sounds right. I need to try that just to see how much of a difference it makes. (But I'm always busy building...)

No -- there won't be any biomes "adjacent" to it -- not in a way that would be anywhere near where most of the stuff you need will spawn. If you come from the nearest biome, you'd be traveling on foot / in boats for pretty significant distances (and possibly swimming through boiling water.)

My general approach, when I tried it solo, was to bring lots of portal materials, building 2 facing one another near every point of interest I wanted to explore. That way, I had a daisy chain of portals that I could just run through to get to whatever. Once built, I never needed to spend more than a second or two in any particular spot if it was hostile. (And, since the game doesn't run any enemy AI unless you're in range, the portals are safe once you jump out -- even if the spot is swarming with enemies.)

Eventually, I found safer spots for each pair and just moved them there. That made it pretty easy to get back and forth to my base portal and places I might need to revisit, and when I was ready to explore, I'd just grab enough for two more portals and continue building the chain. Bit boring, so many portal screens in a row, but it meant I could get right back to any particular spot directly. I only ever needed to "push in" to the Ashlands once.

Vill van Rock now looks more primeval. Contains a Call to Arms spoiler, so tags.

Aaaawwww for a moment I already thought that it's finally time to head north :D Oh well, the waiting keeps going...

I'm having tons of fun with the update (still playing Vill van Rock).

I'm at a point where I can easily take on bears, I came across the Elder on the starting island (the reworked Elder buff looks fantastic), but have yet to find the trader or a very special rock.

Day 93 or so. Need to find a swamp next.

(Searching for bosses is something I really enjoy, so I never use vegvisirs. Searching for the trader(s) is also really fun.)

It's December, so @Riven-Twain and I wrote a Valheim version of the classic carol Twelve Days of Christmas. Here it is:

On the first day of Valheim
Great Odin gave to me
A beech tree falling on me.

On the second day of Valheim
Great Odin gave to me
Two charging boars and
A beech tree falling on me.

On the third day of Valheim
Great Odin gave to me
Three wet necks
Two charging boars and
A beech tree falling on me.

On the fourth day of Valheim
Great Odin gave to me
Four honking deer
Three wet necks
Two charging boars and
A beech tree falling on me.

On the fifth day of Valheim
Great Odin gave to me
Five dumb greylings
Four honking deer

I found Hildir right next to a Fuling village, so there was only one thing I could do... burn down the village with fire arrows (Fire Hazard is on)!
I also destroyed the campfire and bonfire with arrows.

They had a LOT of barley and flax, which I will start farming by spawn-proofing the little Plains area and converting it into a farm.

Extremely lucky first 90-something days. Only missing the Witch.

I have 23 black metal, which will be useless for a long time, meat and hides from three Lox that spawned, and a Fuling Shaman trophy. Not bad for a Bronze Age viking. :D
