vargen besieged (end of chapter 2) help me!!

ok so i am at the point where Zoltan tells me to go right up the stairs and activate the switch to dump the oil. when i head upstairs and clear out the soldiers i go over to the wheel but instead of it facing the correct way so you can grab it it is sideways and unclickable...i have reset the game and even gone back several saves and it keeps happening. i cannot proceed and it is really upsetting. any help would be appreciated!!

Try sheathing your sword. If not, wait a while. It happened to me too.

i just stayed in that area again for 10 minutes killing everything and its not that i dont put my sword away its that the wheel is not in the sopt it should be. it is sideways sticking through the stone. it is an obvious glitch but no matter how many times i try it it will not appear in the correct spot

This is a game breaking glitch that occurs when you update to the Enhanced Edition and load an old save before the battle of vergen. the same thing is happening to me. I read online that if you updated via steam you can back up your saves, uninstall the update then get past that part with the regular version of the witcher 2, or you can wait until the creators patch it. The method i listed has not worked for me though.

Almost, but the workround is for the non-Steam version, not the Steam version.
