Vista - Crashing problem

Playing in swamp for quiteawhile. Know when I meditate and he wakes up the suystem stops and I get a NOT RESPONDING error. running on new computer with vista.. enhanced edition 1.4 :-[ :-X :-\

The game is patched to the newest version, including the hotfix: 1.4.5.1303The game just crashes. It worked prior to a OS reinstall. My error.log and the PCwizard log are attached. I tried all the already mentioned suggestions.This game has the buggiest patches this year, at least for me (i did not buy gothic 3 because of this s**t).

after the OS reinstall it did not work at all?the registry settings are all gone, so maybe that's ita reinstall might do it

attach ERRLOG.TXT from the witcher/system folderread: Getting tech help on the forum and attach that PCWizard report as instructed ( use the older version of PCWizard if you have problems with the newer one )

you've reinstalled the game after the OS install ?

yesEDIT: After uninstalling and reinstalling the game, the EE and the hotfix the game works, crazy.

My problem is a lttle different. I've got the EE box set and is patched with the hotfix, I cannot get the game to run. I get to the screen with the guantlet cursor, then it either locks up my machine with a grey screen requiring a reboot or resets the computer completely. I've tried the Vista recommendations from this forum with no luck. Because of the reboot it does not log an error file in the System directory, so I cannot help you there. Since Christmas I've tried installing the OS from scratch and different combinations of drivers and codecs, all with the same results. Any other ideas would be welcome.

This is so frustrating. I can't understand why, with the same basic configuration the game worked before but it doesn't now. One thing that is different is I am using Norton AV whereas before I was

Okay I reinstalled the hotfix and it crashed my machine like last time. Tried the registry changes and got the same result. This also applies to the new 2.13 drivers.

I love this game, but really.. I have to suffer through so much crashing. It crashes at least once every 60 to 90 minutes. I have tried almost every fix people have said... run as admin, XP compat mode, all things checked, forcing this and that. I also had the problem of lights shining through stuff so I had to switch my SLI mode, as well.I ahve:M2N-Sli DeluxeAMD 64 X2 6000+2x 8800GT 512MB SLI (AFR2)2Gb 800MHz RAMVista Business 32-BitRunning at 1680x1050, most at high, no AA, forced AF for talking scenes. I love this game, on act 5 and love it so much I have suffered through, probably now, 20+ crashes to beat this game and prob countless more. After beating it, I will uninstall and just set it on my shelf and hopefully wait for one last patch. This and Crysis Warhead are my worst to crashers... Fallout 3, rarely, Crysis, Left 4 Dead, Bioshock, Mass Effect, FEAR, Dead Space, etc, no crashing.I Love you guys at CD Projekt,... but this just makes me sad and really hard to be 100% behind you guys. I know it may be something with my machine, but I have tried so much, at wits end and just want to finishg this awesome game. I really don't want to reformat complete OS + update + fresh install just play this game crash free, and that's silly to assume I would have to do so. I may have to just request a 64bit Disc and reformat up to 64Bit so I can also have more RAM. *SPOILERS*

During Ch 4 and the fight with the Scoi`etel, I crashed 3 times to get through 5 minutes worth of game. Saved a lot (another thing I don't like, new save file for every quick save ...) I'm in the blazing fires of Old Vizima trying to save our lady friend at the barricade... she gets shot by the lead Elf and goes down... so dramatic and then... CRASH. :wall:

:'( This is the first game to best me with crashes... anything else I can try besides whiping it all out and trying again?*sigh* Such a bittersweet (more sweet, though) relationship with this title.
