I can understand how someone might not like Cockle's sound, that it might not sound like how they imagine Geralt sounding, but his voice acting is spot on for me- measured, even, a hint of sarcasm, it's wonderful. I like how he pulls off the sarcastic or skeptical bits, it's some talented work.

Also, guys, just use the downvote button for offensive or troll posts- I don't think someone merits being downvoted for saying they didn't like Cockle's VA :]

Yep. In TW1 I can understand the complaints. In TW2, he was apparently given more freedom to be expressive or he just got better at his role.

I liked all the voices, though some more than others. I doubt that Dethmold and Stennis would make it into TW3 (they die on the most routs through TW2), but for the rest, they can have the same voice actors, as far as I am concerned.

i also think geralt's VA did wonderful job. he had that certain combination of rugged deep voice with the cool, calm eloquent serenity that geralt has in the novels.

This.

Imo, Doug Cockle’s voice acting fits Geralt’s character perfectly. Let’s not forget that Geralt is not a person who openly shows his emotions; he is an introvert, had very hard life (his tone of voice perfectly reflects that). Also, - as it was mentioned before -in the books he always speaks in a cool, calm voice, just like Doug does in the games.

Speaking of VA...I really disliked the voice behind Shepard from the Mass Effect series...and the protagonist from Dragon Age II. All of these games have some great voice talents when it comes to NPC's but fail miserably at having the right voice for the main characters.
I have yet to play Dragon Age II (but from the gameplay fragments I know that male Hawke's voice is miediocre at best)but as for Mass Effect series, the voice is not all that bad. Anyway, in both games it seems to me, that voice actor of the female character is much better. That was one of the reasons I played through whole Mass Effect series as a female character despite me being a male.

But to the point:
I find voice acting consistency necessary to really immerse myself in the world, when I'm playing through a whole franchise. That's one of reasons why I love Mass Effect series, and why I love the Witcher series... As a Polish speaking player. Polish voice actors have not changed at all between Witcher 1 and 2. It's a pity that English voice actors have.
But I'm pretty convinced that they won't change actors of important characters now, for the last game.

i like Geralts voice, i just wish he showed more range. He should sound really angry when he´s angry. Not just slightly more serious. Anyhow, i hope Iorveth´s VA stays.

i think the voice actors are important but i dont think that CDPR needs to spend top dollar on famous actors like bethersda does. (although i am happy that tywin will be the emperor and im secretly hoping that chloe moretz will VA as Ciri.)

I think you meant to say Bioware...Bethesda games have always had sub par voice acting...

It'd be nice to have Dethmold and/or Stennis show up for bit parts, but I definitely don't anticipate those two coming back for TW3 - Stennis would be in Aedirn, Dethmold...well, he could be anywhere.

yeah it has to be bioware since they seem to think spending money on people like martin sheen (though he was a good VA) is a great way to spend money. and Bethesda has never done great VA work so it has to be bioware.

Yes, yes, I find it so important to have a well voice acted script. I will put down a game based on poor or non-immersive voice acting. I sometimes prefer games in their native language (better acted), but in other cases the English VA is well worth listening to.

'Default' accents, really bland acting teamed with cheesy writing usually makes a game un-enjoyable for me, so I'm hoping none of this happens in TW3. Charles Dance will be great, and they don't need a-listers for the rest of the roles - some of the secondary voices in the last game were phenomenal.

Quite like the idea of non-native English speakers doing a couple of the voices like Yennefer ... I just can't imagine her in an English voice so a Polish actress with a Polish sounding English accent would be lovely. Yes, and I know they have to worry about all of the other languages too so they have a big job on their hands.

How do the other language voice overs fair up?

Which characters from The Witcher 2 do you most want to see have the same VA's in The Witcher 3?

All of them. :)
And I hope Lena Headey voices Yennefer. :p

For me Doug Cockles voice doesn't really match with how he speaks in the books. However, that doesn't mean I don't like it, the voice makes his rough personality even better.

Anyway, when they changed all the VA:s except Geralts from TW1 to TW2, did somebody notice the difference? When TW2 came, I had forgot how the characters in the first game sounded like, given that the second game came nearly four years after the first one. However when I replayed the first game once again, I noticed a huge difference!

Triss VA has to stay! :)

Frankly, I agree with them on this one. Sheen wasn't just good, he was awesome as Illusive Man.

Yep, the only big name voice actors I can recall they got were Laura Bailey(Serana), Liam Neeson(Dad), and to a lesser extent Ulfric Racistcloak(Vladimir Kulich).

CDPR should bring back the voice actor for W1's Siegfried.

I liked TW1-Triss better than TW2-Triss. Her VA in TW2 is a little too girlish for my liking... but on the other hand, also her character changed accordingly. I said this already a few times in older threads, I think TW1-Triss had a lot of Yennefer's traits - she was tougher, followed her own goals, and her voice reflected that quite adequately, I think. So TW1-Triss could make a comeback as TW3-Yennefer, in my opinion :)

Two pages and nobody has mentioned Zoltan? For shame.

Anyway, yes, very important, and yes, everyone please. I looked at the list, and I really can't choose. Although I'll say this - it's always stood out to me in the English version that Saskia and, sadly, Dandelion's VAs tend to have an extremely stilted and unnatural delivery. Dandelion especially always sounds like he's voicing an infomercial. But even so, it's hard for me to imagine these characters with different voices, so I don't know if I'd be happy if they got somebody else who acts better.

I'm also totally in the "keep Hollywood out of games" boat, by the way. There's certainly examples where it worked - Sheen in the Mass Effect games, or pretty much everything Malcolm McDowell has done. But more often than not it's jarring because the voice sounds too familiar, the actors deliver phoned-in performances because they don't think it's real work, and you end up wondering how much money went into something that is basically a marketing ploy and does little to improve the actual game.
