I'm having the same problem with screen tearing. I always thought it was a patch issue, because i have an original copy of the game which didnt' include a CD KEY!!!! i've been waiting 2 1/2 weeks anyways...thats another rant!VSYNC is not an option in game, and CCC application only allows 3 buffering, so i think VS is ON by default.Video is HD 4670. enabling crossfire has no effect on screen tearing!Im using an 2 ms LCD monitor, 1920x1080 res and i think refresh rates maxed @ 75 mhz. maybe i should lower it to 60? but it probably wont change things.im positive that graphic in-game setting little to no effect on screen tearing!!games still playable though. hey how bout' that CD key....

try to force Vsync with D3Doverrider application that comes with RivaTuner ( you just run it, it stays in the tray )

Does RivaTuner interfere with CCC? if so, i have custom settings for fan speed and such. does RivaT- have the same options, so i wont have to use 3 different applications to do a bunch of tasks. i'll check it out...thanks for the reply!

RivaTuner has all that and even more, but you won't run RivaTuner at all, you'll only run D3DOverrider

I have found that trying all these techy adj isnt working, its just part of the game...set graphic settings in game to Default and if you want to increase (very little) AF or anything else thats about all you can do AA can only go up 2 or 4 as opposed to 16 in many games. With my equipment I set most to High settings but it didnt seem to help and I found returning to default settings as some had advised yielded best graphics. Maybe its due to older engine? Some of th graphics leave a lot to be desired no matter what...a 2 dimensional look to some of characters other than Geralt, jagged outline of arms and heads, etc. But again, i love the story and quests and the amount of times you can even play to get a new outcome. I have other games that look incredibly real in contrast but most are shooters such as FarCry2 or Crysis which have newer graphic engines maybe but these game leave me wanting.

the AA settings depends on your video card memory size and the game resolution, see here: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=8490.msg216386#msg216386the dialog lines is fixed forcing 4xAF in the control panel of the video card and choosing 4xAF in gamedo post some screenshots of the problems too

Just started The Witcher today after getting patches installed & the one annoying thing that I can't get rid of is screen tearing (when you look around the screens refresh rate is out of sync & can't keep up) so I was wondering what graphic settings can eliminate this? I thought it was triple buffering? I have a Radeon 4650 HD, my laptop's screen refresh rate is at 60hz & I have installed the latest ATI drivers.

Generally it's vertical sync (vsync), but it doesn't seem to help with the witcher. You could try to force it with your driver rather than the ingame options. But to be honest, I got rid of my last (very last!) ATI card because it did tear everything up. GeForce is way better in that respect, but alas, not with the witcher.

I remember back about 4 or 5 years ago when I used to play games like Return To Castle Wolfenstein & it would tear & I never knew what the hell it was, just that it annoyed the absolute crap outta me. Moving or turning causing walls to tear up, objects taking spasm's & graphically games were ruined for me. I never thought in this day & age it would be a problem, you would think with the technology the graphics cards of today have that crap like this wouldn't happen. I tried downloading the catalyst 9.4 driver which has maybe helped a tiny bit althought its still very noticable. I am starting to regret going with a laptop with an ATI based card, should have gone with an Acer & the Gefore 9800 card. It seems there's loads of people complaining about the screen tearing issue with ATI cards, surely with that many complaints they would bring out a fix of some sort, its one of the worst & most noticable graphic issue's known. Does anyone have any solutions at all, I have enabled triple buffering in the catalyst control center which a lot of people have said is a supposed remedy for screen tearing, I haven't came across any VSync options yet.

Um... my solution isn't very helpful for you, I'm afraid. I sold my ATI on eBay and bought a GeForce instead (the 8800GT which, surprisingly, is still a very good card, despite it's Methusalem-like age of nearly two years. ;)). But I gather, you cannot just change cards on a laptop, right? And I thought, laptops weren't suitable for gaming at all - or is that old news?Anyway, I don't think there's a software based solution for this, or other people would have found that before. And I agree, the Catalyst center isn't very helpful, either. Not many possibilities for customisation. Why do you think I was so mad? :wall:

Well I downloaded the RivaTuner, went into the D3DOverrider, the VSync & Triple Buffering is turned on automatically. The application detection setting was set to medium, so into The Witcher I went, loaded up my save game & I turned around a few times & the tearing was still there. Back out to the desktop, I thought I'd turn the Triple Buffering in the CCC off, incase it was conflicting with the D3DOverrider, I also set the detection to high on the Overrider. Into the game I go once more, loaded it up (I'm in the library right at the start of the game) & started moving around the room looking for any break up in the walls.....a magical thing happened the walls didn't break up, I was turning around again & again to make sure & it seemed fine. I then ran right up beside a wall & looked left & right, it was still ok :) Couple of questions though, do I have to uninstall my catalyst driver or the program itself since I have the RivaTuner, or can I uninstall the RivaTuner yet keep the Overrider or would it be taken of if the RivaTuner was uninstalled? If anyone has a Radeon card & wants my settings to see if they can replicate the tearing solution, just say & I'll post them here. Thanks once again Liacon ;D

I disabled Cat A.I and now Vsync on is working, no more screen tearing! FPS drops if you don't turn on triple buffering.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I'm having the v-sync problem with a pair of 4850x2's in crossfire. I've tried every combination of settings in game and in the CCC, v-sync doesn't work. If I use d3doverrider it has the odd effect of locking everything to 25fps (it works perfectly with other games). The tearing during cut scenes is really off putting, some of them run at 1300+ fps which causes massive tearing.Any other ideas about fixing this problem?/LE: Ok got d3doverrider working :) I had to force it globally as it gave odd results forcing it on an .exe basis[MOD]Use the MODIFY button[/MOD]

I had the same issue but I finally managed to fix it! I started by lowering all Advanced graphical settings, which removed the cut-scene (talking,) screen tare, so I knew it was one (or more,) of those settings. I then turned them all back up to max and lowered them one by one.It turned out that it was the Lighting settings. Put it to Low and the screen tare disappears completely. Medium brings it back, but its much less.>Edit

You sig is very interesting but:- Signatures are quite an interesting variety, however we should not exaggerate with their size and brightness – not everyone likes their eyes being attacked with hundreds of colours Wink The size of the whole signature (graphic banners+text) should not exceed 450px in width and 200px in height, however, a single graphic banner should not be bigger than 100px in height, so please stick to those limitations.you can find the rules of this forum here: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=20279.msg438991#msg438991

I have a 32 inch LCD television which I use as my monitor. I had the tearing & VSync issue, but in the NVIDIA controller panel I change it to force VSync & do triple buffering for The Witcher. This completely resolved my issue. I play on all high graphic, max setting for all things. No VSync issue now, it work just great :) It is still early in the day so even after just reading this thread I do not recall, did you try forcing VSync for specificlly this games profile in your control panel for the graphic card?
