W2EE Hard Mode vs Dark is my game glitched

First post hope I put this question in the correct forum.
Here's my problem:
Geralt Hard Mode= Take your time and don't get surrounded
Geralt Dark Mode= Dies almost instantly if he catches fire even with Quen sign active.
Geralt dies from dragon fire instantly in the prologue.
Geralt stumbles into a camp fire dies almost instantly.
Has Geralt's blood and sweat turned into petrol? Is this what dark mode is all about?
Please tell me my game is glitched and I can fix it. I really enjoyed Hard Mode and have completed both paths and really wanted to give the Dark Mode a try. But this extreme flammability issue is a game breaker for me.

Wait till you get more vitality or cast quen after you catch on fire to put yourself out.

Dark mode is harder than hard mode. You take more damage.

Thank you for the reply.
Dragon fire is instant death with or without Quen active, Even when I watch where the dragon flies and run when she is the farthest from me.
The second I step out from the first covered area it is instant death.
In the Prologue you are still telling Roche the story so there is no increasing vitality this early in the game.

Also another reason I think my game is glitched is I am using a W1 game save so my armor is better. Even though I have equipped it and made several ingame saves. When I die from the dragon fire my game reload defaults to the crap armor and swords. All the sword runes have been removed. Major pain in the a$$ to redress and apply runes to my swords while dodging a fire breathing dragon, haha

For the dragon wait near the end of the first covered area and look left. You will see the dragon there. After a few seconds the dragon flies off and goes below the 'bridge'. that is when you run to the next covered area.

Thank you for the tip.
However if my game is not glitched and Geralt is a wimpy, highly flammable, wuse well that does not sound very dark to me and I think I'm going to pass on this lvl. I was just killing some time waiting like we all are for the 19th to come around.

Dark mode pretty much does away with attrition combat. To me, that is a much-desired feature, because attrition is the most immersion-breaking of entrenched RPG conventions.

Yeah, you get torched by a dragon, you die. You take care of yourself, you live to fight another day. "Don't get killed, witcher."
