wait TW3 isn't actual open world??

When I was in White orchard I bumped into the "world's end". I thought the devs mentioned this region, along with a handful others such as the Vizima court, Skellig islands, and Kaer Morhen that require loading upon entering/exiting.
However when I proceeded to Velen, I once again bumped into an invisible wall that forced me to fast travel in order to proceed beyond. This feels like a multi-region "open world" like Dragon Age Inquisition rather than the genuine open-world like GTA 5.
Can someone please explain whether this is truly the case or not? Although I wouldn't be devastated by this, it would really annoy me since I've always held the conception that this is a true open world game. Plus I've seen no one prior to release talking about this issue, whereas everyone knew that DA:I was going to be a restricted open world game.
Thanks for the clarification.

I think there are two really big areas and three to five (?) smaller areas. Within each it is "open world" but to travel between them is not - that is either fast travel or driven by the story line.

well that's exactly like DA:I. It had 12 areas, some of them gigantic. But in order to go from one to the other, you have to fast travel.
I'm really disappointed. Not really due to the fact that it's like DA:I, I enjoyed that game. But the fact that people called it open world. THIS ISN'T OPEN WORLD. No one, not even the devs, called DA:I an open world game. Yet the exact same thing somehow makes TW3 an open-world??
I can't believe so many people who played this game, and the reviewers and media, never brought this up, and even propagated the false conception that this game is a true open world.

Who cares.
Loading/fast travel screen between those areas are because in Witcher lore, you would have to travel weeks between Velen to Kaer Morhen or Skellige.

CDPR mentioned that these two regions require loading. But it seems that there are FAR MORE regions that require loading than the few CDPR mentioned.
Even Bioware was honest about how DA:I wasn't truly open-world.

It was well known way before, that there will be loading screens between those 2 main areas (Skellige and Velen/Novigrad), other ares are small and very far. That's why the loading screen.
