Wardrobe tutorial FAQ

So since the new wardrobe system might seem a bit confusing at first glance, I decided to make this simple and short FAQ/Q&A style of tutorial to those who are having difficulties with it. Also if you have any other questions about the wardrobe system, feel free to ask :)
So let's begin:

Q: What's the wardrobe and how do I access it?
A: Wardrobe is Cyberpunk's version of a transmog that was added in patch 1.6 allowing you change your clothing without changing your stats. You can access this from any appartment by interacting with the coathanger icon.

Q: Can I have more than one outfit?
A: Yes, you can have multiple outfits. Different outfit slots are on the left side and simply choose which outfit you wish to modify. So if you like your first outfit, just choose the slot 2 and start modifying that one.

Q: How does outfit modifying work?
A: It works just like equiping/unequiping clothing items on the default character menu. You have your basic categories like outer torso, feet, head and so on. The list of available clothing for that slot is on the right. Whatever you choose here is purely cosmetic, so no changes to your stats or mod slots. Stats and mod slots come from the actual items you equip in the main character menu just like in the past.

Q: How to get more clothing options in the wardrobe?
A: As soon as you pick up a new piece of clothing, it becomes permanently available in the wardrobe. The item only needs to visit your inventory once and it's there. So e.g. if you find a hat, loot it and scrap it right away, the hat is still available in the wardrobe forever. So it's not necessary to store items in your stash or in your inventory to use them in the wardrobe. Also if you craft a clothing item, it becomes available in the wardrobe aswell.

Q: Can I unequip or change my wardrobe outfit on the fly?
A: Yes, just go to your character menu and open the "Special Outfits" section. There you can unequip or change to a different outfit at will. If you unequip your outfit, V will put on what ever you have equipped as your actual items like prior to 1.6

Q: Can I modify my outfits on the fly?
A: No. Only way to modify your outfits is in one of your appartments and accessing the wardrobe from there.

Q: I don't like this. Can I still play like prior to 1.6 where whatever I equip is what I see on my character?
A: Yes, the wardrobe is 100% optional feature. So if you liked how the clothing managment worked before, you can still do it.

Q: Can my outfit be just V naked?
A: Yes.

Hope this helps anyone having troubles :)

Q : Is it a great feature ?
A : Being skeptical at first, after playing few hours... Surprisingly it is !
I love this feature!
It's something I've wanted to see in the game since I first started playing. Too many times I have scrapped/sold a good piece of clothing because it looks ridiculous and kept the inferior but cooler looking item instead. I also dislike most hats in the game so now I can just go without one. Especially since some hats make you bald for whatever reason.

It would be a great feature that makes it even sadder that they chose to not let us see ourselves in game.

I am unable to interact with the coat hanger symbol; I see it but there's no way to click on it... there are items hanging in the wardrobe which present an option to click on them to pick them to inventory but I've always avoided that.. but the coat hanger green symbol presents no interaction mode..... I do have an apartment mod (alternative decor) maybe that is the issue?

Meanwhile since Patch 1.6 every single slot in my inventory for clothes has a padlock locked symbol and any attempt to click them to change items for that slot results in 'Action Blocked' flashing in a green notice.. I am currently stuck with only the items my V is wearing and cannot change anything.. nor can I remove any worn item with the mouse wheel as indicated normally in the menu... what might cause this?

This might be because of the mod conflicting with something. I suggest that you try to interact with the wardrobe on a fresh save without that mod and see if anything changes. Many mods went haywire after the patch.
As for the items that you can pick up next to the place where the wardrobe is, you can safely loot those. They've been there long before this patch :)

Usually it's a quest that locks you into wearing a specific outfit. Any more details when did this happen? Did it happen after one of these quests like e.g. the Heist or the Pyramid Song which forces you to wear different outfits?
It could also be another mod conflict too so if you're willing to try an unmodded save with a fresh character, you can also test if this works too along with the wardrobe.

I'd never heard of transmog, so for me it was/is indeed confusing. But I understand it now better, also cause of your FAQ (y)
But for me it kinda breaks the gameplay :(
I make an outfit in the Wardrobe and go out in the world. I then find for example some cool sunglasses but I can not equip them.
I mean, I can but the glasses are not visible on V. I can unequip the wardrobe but then I have a naked V with only some sunglasses on.
So if i want to to wear those glasses, I have to go to an apartment, go to the Wardrobe, add the glasses there and then go back to where I was. And that feels very weird, breaks the immersion.
So for some this transmog thing might be cool but the normal Stash works way better when it comes to normally add add/change sunglasses.

Since these are the sections that 'fit' for my response/suggestion deleted the others.

We should be able to use the 'Changing Room' areas of the various clothing vendors, if they have one, to change up our wardrobe on the spot instead of needing to go back to the apartment.

Maybe the disabled ex-Tyger Claw vendor has a screen or shower curtain up you can duck behind to change. :)

EXTRA TO WARDROBE TUTORIAL: Don't use an item with higher level than your current. When you use a shower the stats of that item are erased on save/load after that.

You mean in the inventory slot ?
If yes, how you can even equip an item which is higher level than you ? Normally you can't :(
No, when you pick up an item that has higher level than yourself, it still has its appearance added to your wardrobe.

If you then shower, the item is dropped to your level including mods, etc.

Weird. I don't recall having an issue like this. I have found items that are higher leven than mine and I always take a shower and sleep at V's home but the items have stayed at their level. E.g. last time I found lvl 22 legendary sunglasses at level 20 so I kept those glasses in my inventory for the duration of leveling up twice.
What platform are you on?

Just curious if you know of a "Marker" / "Symbol" or any form of identification for a item in a shop to let you know you already have it unlocked. I thought it was the little bits added to the rarity color on the left of the item but I have bought items with and without it and some were new and others were not.

There is a dedicated tab in vendors inventory to only show items that you don't already have in your wardrobe (the last one on the right).
