It's easy to misinterpret if you only watch the first few seconds.

Playing right now. Missions are so boring especially in Act 1.
On Act 3 now, i hope it gets better.

They need to come out with the fucking patch already. On my system the game is still very playable, but I still get the odd stutter every now and then at 1440p everything ultra including the textures with GTX 770 4GB SLI. Game looks really good, but you can tell that some of the assets were downgraded due to the "legacy baggage" with the older consoles..

Game is great though, and I don't regret buying it. What I do regret is preordering it. This is the last Ubisoft game that I preorder as the streaming problem on the PC is too fundamental an issue to just gloss over. They had to know it was a big problem..

If I had to guess, they spent most of their time and resources optimizing the next gen consoles as the PC is easier to patch post release.. Still doesn't make it any better though, as the game has been in development for such a long time, and was even delayed.

Knowing the site and shite writers of the site it'd probably have been the same. Anything racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.. is condemned even if in humour.

I felt my last post didn't really cover any of the positives in Watch Dogs so here are some of the things I love about the game, and which I feel are even revolutionary..

First off, there has simply never been a game of this scale and density in a seamless environment....ever! The game world is massive, the size of the buildings are true to life, and the world is densely populated. At any given time, there are hundreds of NPCs walking about or driving, especially during the day time.

And these NPCs have very dissimilar attributes. Take a walk in the park, and you'll see NPCs practicing martial arts, flying quadcopters, playing soccer, jogging, doing Tai Chi, landscaping. You'll see them taking pictures, selling and hawking their wares on the street, playing musical instruments, playing chess, having conversations etcetera..

There is so much variety in the A.I routines in this game that it's staggering. It really brings the game world to life... And the enemy A.I is pretty smart too. When you do these convoy takedown missions, you have to target a specific vehicle that's protected. If you go in guns blazing, expect to be killed in short order (unless you have a grenade launcher and some IEDs) as you will be outgunned, and the enemy A.I will flank you in a heartbeat and call for backup. So you have to plan the takedowns carefully, especially if you don't want to kill any civilians in the process.

Graphically Watch Dogs does not disappoint if you're playing on ultra settings, which are a significant upgrade over the console versions. I'm told the PS4 uses the equivalent of PC high settings, which still looks good. But ultra of course takes things quite a bit further by increasing the draw distance and level of detail substantially, improving the soft shadows, adding HBAO+ which is MILES better than the standard AO which the consoles get, and increasing the quality of the reflections and the water simulation..

As for textures, on ultra quality there is a very noticeable difference compared to high. Character or NPCs textures don't differ much between the two, but for environmental textures, the difference is substantial. So if your PC can handle it, I definitely recommend using ultra quality textures.

Physics is another area that Watch Dogs excels in, but not all around unfortunately. The game world has lots of simulation. Wind, vegetation, water, rain, weather, clouds, cloth etcetera.. But the driving mechanics are very arcadish and some of the environmental destruction effects are definitely downgraded from what we saw in the E3 2012 demo.

There is talk that a PhysX patch will be incoming though, so we'll see whether that changes anything. All in all, Watch Dogs is a truly awesome game, but it's stained by all the bugs and performance issues that should have been squashed in the 6 months extra Ubisoft had before it came to market.

Hmm. It seems I have an extra code for Watch Dogs because I had to RMA one of my GPU.
If someone is interested by the code and somewhat interested by the game itself, I would gladly share it.

Generous of you Cheylus. Very interested! Don't have a proper computer for it though, not until TW3, so better give it to someone with the means to actually run it.

My cousin has been talking about wanting the game but having second thoughts about buying it, due to a bit of a financial low he's going through. Guess he'd be grateful, if you still have the code. :)

Sooo... this game sold 4 million copies in its first week. It's kind of mind-boggling really, given that at the end it didn't live up to the hype. No, not even that - it's just... average in the same way first Assassin's Creed was [which sold 6 million lifetime, wtf].

But now of course "it's a franchise", which means that inevitable Watch_Dogs 2 is gonna improve on every level... hopefully. It's kinda funny when I think about it now, how bland both Altair and Aiden are... just meh.

I had such fucking hopes for us, Ubisoft !

This game is irrelevant now that GTA5 is coming to PC. I can't wait, the trailer was amazing.

eliharel > This game will be on discount prices soon enough I guess. You'll have plenty of time to upgrade your PC. Sorry buddy! better give the code to someone who can use it asap.

aaden > I'll try to find out how I can send PM on this forum :)

I wouldn't even equate the two. I mean Assassin's Creed is no gem and just an average game which with each new release gets more and more casual of which I expected from Watch Dogs. No hype going in and expectations were low and I could play no more than a couple hours. In my opinion it was one of the worst games I've ever played all around.

You guys have no idea what you're talking about by criticizing Watch_Dogs.

I came accross the biggest problem of the game, safe bugs, bad gameplay, bad ideas and bad story.

Vulgarity.

There are tons of jokes about blowjobs, loads of sperm, piss and shit in this game I'm on the brink of vomiting.
In 10 min, I found two phone "conversations" by walking in the streets: first one, one guy who was telling to another guy the night he had with a beautiful chick and how he unload himself in her mouth. Then, I found another guy who was also telling another guy he was having a good lay with a girl, but he had to pee while he was inside her. And some times later I "intruded" into a citizen system and hacked a phone, a guy was texting his girlfriend, she was saying "there's no TP left", he answered he'll go find some for her.
Yeah, you read right, trust me on that. Not one bit of humor or subtility, just mere feces and porn. And I'm not kidding, those convos are EVERYWHERE, I keep running on that every 10 minutes. Maybe it tried to depict "humanity" going full retard because of technology; I don't know but I don't care.

In the short time I played I did run into the 'need to pee while fucking' conversation. I just kind of brushed it off, but talking of girls going #2. No.

WD was such a great ide, but the Ubisoft scr*wed up. They had 5 years to develop a decent sandbox-adventure game, and they failed. Why? I don't care about the bad physics even if the GTA IV had better... But, for Holy Emperor's shake copy-pasted the sidequests from various previous Ubi titles? Why? Well, the crime prevention is new, but after that...There is nothing. I wanted to love this game, but I cannot. I don't even finished the first act, but I am bored already. Don't get me wrong, it is not a bad game, but avarage, grey, almost nothing new and this is pisses mi off, because this game could be so much better. I think there is lot to learn about the good side activities from the sandbox RPG-s.
