I spent too much time tweaking the shit out of this game and now I can't even enjoy it properly...the fucking stuttering is still there...I think it gave me cancer or something.

Just noticed something strange...whenever I buy crafting components, coffee and drinks it seems that I am actually getting them for free(unlike cars and clothing)cause the amount of money I had before buying any of those things stays the same...

Anyone else encountered the same issue?

Hadn't noticed, actually. I've been a bit too busy to play it, plus waiting for that performance patch.

...

....

.....and I'm a little afraid of the Online component. It's really fun, but it's also kind of intimidating being hacked no matter how hard you hunt. Quiver.

what is the meaning of buying clothes in Watch_Dogs when there is only one outfit you can buy? i know there are different colors, slightly different coats and sometimes hats and gloves....but all in all its just one damn outfit

the animation only fits one style of clothes and ubisoft is too lazy to do variations for the animations and too unimaginative to allow that animation to work with a different clothing styles.

How unfortunate it is to find sooo many complaints... I really had some high hopes for this game a year ago.

Smthg's telling me this will be another bargain bin baby, IF THEY ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH THE PATCH.

Ah.

No.

It's selling really well and with good reason.

It's a lot of fun. Like, I haven't had this much fun this year..I prefer it to GTA5 for example. It can drop a bit, but ti's steady enough for play. The online component is both exciting, frustrating and occasionally exhilarating. Making it non lethal for the most part was a great touch.

I like to just see what people do for a living and what they make at it - that's pretty cool.

On Realistic, it's plenty hard. Hard enough that I will run from a fight.

So, yeah, totally don't regret my preorder and price point.

People just need to stop giving THAT MUCH importance to reviews and just play whatever looks interesting. A game can be rough around the edges and still be a lot of fun. When I gave a crap about what magazines said I ended up with the exact same few games as my friends. Some I intensely enjoyed, some I saw as technically perfect but, eh... Take a stand, I know games are expensive, but they aren't so much on pc. Use sales and price drops if you're still afraid.

No! people need to give ALL OF THE IMPORTANCE to reviews! Reviews do a world of good for humanity. Reviews tell you how to think, feel, and behave. Reviews rock you like a hurricane. Embrace the reviews. Love the reviews. Trust the reviews.

Anyway, it makes me a little sad that a game so many gamers clearly hated has sold so well, not because of the game itself or any lingering Ubisoft hate (I really liked Child of Light), but because it pretty much proves that hype = sales regardless of whether a game is loved or hated. There's something deeply depressing about that regardless of what kind of game Watch Dogs actually is.

Maybe, but Call of Duty is a known franchise that has—allegedly—produced some well-loved and entertaining games, so part of its success inevitably comes down to brand recognition and riding on the coattails of its older entries. Are there any other examples of games that aren't part of an established series selling well despite an overwhelming negative fan reception?

Ahhh...source for this? I've been reading mostly positive responses from fans. Qualified positive, esp after the launch snafu, but positive. Given the sales numbers, if the fans were that upset, I'd expect to see a Duke Nukem Forever scale backlash.

I would say a cautiously positive fan reaction, even occasionally enthusiastic.

I think DNF is different. I have the impression it was fan service for older duke's fans.

Watch dogs seems to be more of a mainstream game targeted to the younger GTA/CoD market.

Mucho different markets and thus mucho different reactions or am I completely out of the ballpark?

Iiinteresting point.

I would say you are...correct, yeah. I'd also say that Watch Dogs picked up this very excited fanbase very fast and maybe that's why we're seeing venom out there.

Another point is that Ubisoft is such a loaded term. Like Bioware, people prejudge at 90 miles per, so that it can be hard to tell the value response from the static.

The venom handed to WD is similar in flavour to DNF, albeit not in scale, that I can perceive. Perhaps that is because Watch Dogs appeals to a broader, younger, more forgiving fanbase right now? Although I've never known internet youth to be all that forgiving.

It's a general impression from metacritic and the "most helpful" steam reviews, which are horrible for actually obtaining information about a game, but decent enough for general impression kind of stuff.

You can't blame people's impression of Ubisoft, either, because just compare Child of Light's overwhelmingly positive reception to Watch Dogs. CoL's metacritic user score is sky-high, and the "most helpful" steam reviews are all positive. One would think if Ubi or uplay were the cause for the backlash, both would be affected.
