Personally i rather keep Witcher the way i remember it. Witcher 1 was an amazing game and i have very fond memories of it, but CDProjekt should just focus on the future i think, they are getting better and better with each game and i really want to see what amazing thing they will do next.

^ the graphics are not the problem. The game mechanics (combat especially), the animations, voice acting and reused npcs on the other hand....

As @web-head91 already mentioned...

If RedKit 2 is released, maybe a team of dedicated and talented modders with plenty of free time wiil be able to recreate Witcher 1...

Huge and difficult undertaking.

That would be a dream, but unfortunately "no redkit" is the current status:cry:

The Witcher 1 would need a remake. Red Engine 3, new combat and animation, new voice acting.

I played with English voice acting in TW1 and didn't notice any issues with it. It's very professional.

Overall, it's quite good, but I think some people had an issue with the odd mixture of American and English voices. I can recall a few peasant women who sounded like they were from Kansas -- but perhaps that was intentional.

There were quite a few accents, even Irish ones I think. That didn't bother me and I thought it was intentional.

Blinky teleported Kansas peasantry to Lakeside.

But yeah, I agree - voice acting is good...Not perfect, but good enough...

Pretty much, and besides, if it does get remastered, I think it will lose some of its charm being on newer updated graphics and gameplay, remastering a game is not always good for the game itself.

Some games don't age well, and some.. well, they're like Witcher.

Can't say that I'm totally against the idea of a remastered version, since I'm also curious of how it's going to be like if it's done properly. And that means that the core of the game, the feel and everything essential is intact. Things like combat in my opinion is a "trademark" of TW1, and even the slightest change may possibly ruin the game.

Yeah,TW1 is still beautiful.I'm afraid if they do a remaster, the game will lose the slavic atmosphere, which TW2 and TW3 lack.

That is something to be worried about if a remaster was to be made (which I doubt), it is not unlikely that the game would be modified in a number of ways to appeal to a wider audience and console users, it could be censored, gameplay elements removed or simplified, etc.

Well we wouldn't know for sure, it's going to be hard to keep the key elements of the game if a different segment of audience is the target, but it's still possible. And I'm still curious how it's going to work. You might already know that in movies there are two types of adaptation, which is a "remake" and a "reboot". A remake is more or less like the predecessor with a face lift, while a reboot is taking the same concept, universe, character, but could be a totally different thing. I'm not totally against both, but I would prefer a "remake", which is closer to a "remastered", than a reboot. But again, we can't be sure until then (and if it is going to happen, which like what you said, it's unlikely to happen).

@Zyvik made a good point. TW1 is very atmospheric. It's part of its charm and a big reason the game still sells (albeit at remainder prices). A reboot or remake has to preserve that. It's not just soundtrack or artwork, it's the whole feel, the total work.

I don't really need a remaster, just a console port with controls adjusted for a game-pad.

There are however parts in TW3 which come close.
