What would you like to see for Companions in 2077?

1, 7, 10.

I don't want companions, because no matter what game I'm playing they always get in the way. Based on what has been revealed so far, that won't be the case, hence 7 and 10 as well.

Companions should be mortal and not romanceable.
If they are really, really dumb and essential to the story -- then they could have immortality, I suppose. I can't imagine enjoying having to retry something a dozen times because an idiot companion keeps getting themselves killed.
I know it's possible to have to reload a save in a main quest in Witcher 3 if Geralt's companion dies, but getting them killed takes skill.

5 6 8 10

Not all companions should be permanent, "Witcher-style" episodic comrades adds some spice to the boring CP2077's gameplay loop but I prefer at least some of them to be permanent so I didn't vote for 2nd option.

SW: Republic Commando did it best when it comes to squad management and giving orders to companions on a gamepad, just straight up lift control scheme from that game and we're ALL good. The companions also should know where and when to take cover and that also works in that game. Considering how far we are from the year 2005, the AI in CP2077 should be perfected, no questions.

Since CDPR writers apparently love erotic and writing mini love stories so much, I also want them to suffer by overworking in this department too to ensure not seeing this crap ever again in future games by REDs.

Mortal NPCs all the way, baby.

3, 6, 8, 9. The lack of a full fledged companion system is the part of the design that makes me most sad. I'm neither of 4 or 5. For all it's other flaws, I really liked the way ME:A handled it. You level the companions up and give them their powers, but they end up choosing when to use them through AI. You could still give some vague commands, like "go over there!"

I am for option 2 to companions be with me here and there and on their own personal quests, but mostly solo.

But if i need to bring companions with me, than option 5 and 8, nothing worst in RPG when you have companions but you can't change there equipment or level them up how you want or even controlling them to some extend.

And they need to be mortal like me and enemy and npc, so option 10.

Looking like I'm in the minority here but I like the option to have constant (if I choose to), immortal outside of the plot companions. Games that do this right don't let their difficulty suffer from receiving a little help, and adventuring is more fun with the occasional banter. RPG's always felt more personalized with this available, as someone with a savvy netrunner tagging along may have a completely different gameplay experience than someone bringing a tank. Those who don't prefer this can always go solo anyway.

2,4, 6 and 9 mainly due to my pessimism.

4: I'm afraid companions won't get orders properly adding a lot of frustration during gameplay. Imagine being during a complex fight and trying to tell jackie to do something (without pausing the game, everything is in real time in the game and I love it) and the idiot AI doesn't get it and does something else, and he dies. Goddamn. Reload because programmers failed? No thanks, I've seen it too many times. Imagine ellie in TLOU being vulnerable or possible to be seen by unactivated foes, it would have been one of the most frustrating games in history.

9: as I just wrote, stupid AI not covering and getting killed. Or bugs, jackie falling from a certain height and dying becasue stupid or bugged falling damage. If I kill someone because I decide to (directly or indirectly, e.g. I take a decision and the long-term outcome is jackie being dead), absolutely fine, actually I want this. If it's an escort mission, I can accept it, but if the AI dies because it's stupid, I can't bear it.

6: why not? Actually it'd be nice if for once an NPC hits on you and you decide if you're gonna pound that ass or not. It's always the other way round in games, not that realistic :(

Not a big fan of companions.. very few games did them right.. if they MUST have companions i really hope they are done in Bioware style.. really kotor and mass effect are probably the only games where the companions stuck with me years after finishing the games

Mass Effect 2 made companions the whole purpose of the game rather than some random bloke or lass you meet on the road that goes "hey you seem to be going in the same general direction as me.. wanna hook up?" then proceed to slaughter an entire village with someone they just met.. who does that? how is that desirable?

There is probably less focus on this kind of content than in The Witcher 3, with the protagonist being less defined, and the story is likely less of the personal type. The director and lead writers are also the same people who made Assassins of Kings (more political story), while one of the main writers of family and relationship related content in TW3 was apparently hired by Techland. Nevertheless, romances (both one night stands and more serious relationships) have been confirmed already, and those NPCs will most likely also be companions in some quests for character development.

If I recall correctly, Witcher style companions have already been more or less confirmed by developers. So, there will be NPCs to accompany the player's character on specific quests, sometimes optionally, but no permanent followers or party system. Also likely no way to order the companions around, and I guess they are mostly invincible (except maybe for some specific scenes where they need to be protected for story reasons, or they could get knocked out until the end of the battle).

I'm ok with that, and they way they said companions will work in the game. My comment was more geared towards companions as they are represented throughout the genre.

the only FPS that did companions the best so far has been mass effect. but in my opinion they were still ineffectual , majority of the bad guys always targeted the player and what little help companions provided was negligible at best. but when it comes too companions don't rail road a player with them because of story , instead have them add too the story if you pick them. and as always give player choice give player customization. I personally would love to see something like X-com but I know its not that kind of game.

Somebody never used god-mode Garrus.

I don't like personalization for companions because I like to see them as individuals with own will and not as my pawns. Not 8 for me, then.

Robotic companion like that spider looking thing in the demo seems fun. Supporting stealthily from afar, like providing info for minimap or something, maybe a one button takedown command when in need.

2 , 5 , 9 and i guess 8 .
2- I am happy with what CDPR have said about sometimes with a follower and sometimes alone .
5 - I don`t want to have to micro manage the battle / shoot out , that`s not fun for me but simple orders are fine.
9 - Nothing annoys me more than finishing a hard fight but having to start again because a follower died .
8 - If they are coming with me i would like to make them fit into my team so we complement each other . If there are options i could pick the follower who best fits that mission so 8 isn`t set in stone .

2, 3, 5, 9

So I'd rather not have companions follow me everywhere in Night City and watch me take up my various time wasting activities while reminding me what I'm supposed to be doing. That said, I wouldn't mind having a list of companions I could call on for missions if I feel I need the help. So I ended up voting for 2 and 3 there.

Personally, I'm hoping for something like in earlier Assassin's Creed games where you had Assassin Recruits you could summon into a fight and order to assassinate baddies. Not only that, but you could send them on missions for extra money and experience for them, something I hope they'll add into Cyberpunk 2077. I just like that sort of stuff.
