14 weeks to go!

We're going to do something a little different for these last few weeks, I think.

We're gonna yes, actually Cyberpunk role-play. In 2077. As V.

I'll do a short scenario and post a series of questions. The leading responses will determine next week's results.

It'll be simple, nothing complex, kind of a Day-In-The-Life-Of-V. I don't have a real goal, just let y'all drive and see what happens in Night City.

If you guys get V killed and killed so hard that Trauma Team can't resuscitate, it's over. So, don't do that!

The first questions will build V. Background, Skillset and Gear. Let's begin!

We'll presume that V is fairly attractive, as this is Cyberpunk. And that this isn't their first rodeo. Jackie is alive. You know and work with T Bug. Cyberware is fairly minimal.

Three choices. One from each category.

Be interesting to see what we end up with!

2, 5, maybe a bit of 10.

Street kid, there are basically two kinds of street kids, rats and mice ... rats fight for what they want, mice "hopefully" go unnoticed and scamper REALLY good. (( She who knows to run away lives to flee another day. ))

Stealth, because what "they" don't know can't hurt me!

Same with talking, anything to avoid combat.

(( Revised because I missed that this is a mini-PBEM ))

Very interesting concept, curious how far this will go and hopefully all 14 episodes (assuming this campaign is weekly) are reached by the time we start the real deal.

1, 6, and 10. My V is an ex-nomad who’s a bit fed up of the Road (because that’s pretty much all they’ve ever known most of their life), who’s looking for a more meaningful existence in the big city and who, thanks to their upbringing, knows their way around both machines and people. Or at least tries.

As always so many good options .

I picked 1 , 4 and 7 .
1 I don`t know why but the Nomad LP calls to me
4 V is going to be a Solo and a shoot first type .
This is where it gets hard i like 7 , 8 , 9 and 10 but i had to pick one so 7 so i can get my hands on that hot six shooter that Dex has .

3, 7, 10

Ex-Corpo background. It was a toss up with melee and handguns, but my V can manage both, with pistols slightly edging out. I like V being able to talk their way out of situations and picking up on b.s.

1, 5, and 10.

Stealth and avoiding combat whenever possible, but with the ability to use weapons when necessary, sounds like a good way to stay alive and not make enemies everywhere. The less fighting the better. Plus, words can be just as, or even more powerful than, weapons, in both good and bad.

As for the background, I don't really have a true preference but, like CyberBrett, I feel the Nomad one calls to me on some level. Beats me why that is, but it does.

PS. Forgot to mention while picking options: I really like this idea of yours, Sard. :D

My V is a former accountant, so corpo background makes sense, and his strong maths knowledge, as well as being 52, means a lean towards technical over physical.
Greg wants to be a smooth talker.

I wish I could start in a club. This sounds quite fun place.

So, streetkid its for me, I suppose.

Like @Draconifors, I'm going with Former Nomad, Stealth-oriented, and Talker. 1, 5, 10 (glad we're on the same page for once, Muff!).

I like that Nomads apparently value honest, integrity, and freedom, as those are values I hold near and dear to my heart in real life, too (though I don't intend to play V as a 1-to-1 copy of myself -- that's no fun!). Yes, Night City is a city of scum, liars, cheats, and thieves, but I'm sure any employer will appreciate an employ-ee who won't stab them in the back unless given a very good reason to.

I prefer stealth over combat because I've never been a big fan of violence for violence's sake. In the context of a game, I get no enjoyment from racking up the body count. Smooth, quiet professionalism, that's more my bag. You want someone who gets the job done -- quietly, and with minimal attention drawn to you -- or do you want someone who's going to do precisely the opposite? Look at the 2019 cinematic trailer, potential employer, and decide for yourself.

My V would try his or her best to talk their way out of a situation before resorting to violence. When you can save your own skin, and avoid unnecessary expenses (bullets, gear repairs, or even -- god forbid -- Trauma Team coverage), it's always worth it to try to pursue the diplomatic path. It's good for an employer (or can be), it's good for V, and it's good for the third party (Who may or may not be classified as an "enemy."

Also worth noting, my V would take jobs that line up with this style of existence. Assassinations and hit jobs are not only dishonorable, but significantly more risky (both in terms of direct death risk and potential blowback) than my V would be comfortable with. I foresee a V who prefers to take escort jobs, second-story work, and -- perhaps -- roughing someone up (without necessarily killing them) if the reasons are good enough.

If an enemy gets in my way who can't be snuck past or talked down, I'm more than happy to let 'em eat lead, and when I do, I'd prefer small, efficient weapons that are easily drawn and concealed.

Cut on the streets, V can look pretty much anything in the eye but is smart enough not to. The gutters weren't for him, though. Nothing to prove, nothing to lose -- the elevator can only go up, as far as he's concerned.

He wears a niner on his hip, comfortably, plain for all to see, intimidating enough to make the average gangbanger think a bit about how hungry they are, after all. But the real heater is hidden at his back in a quick-release holster: a custom piece of hardware that can get anything's attention and hold it for as long as the conversation lasts. Most choobs that go that far don't have much left to say, anyway. Quick chats.

He prefers not to spend eddies on ammo, though. Actual words to do the talking when he can manage it. Which is usually. He can get a clap and bump from someone pretty much anywhere he goes. That means someone's always ready to give him an "O.K." for someone else. The rest is just repeating the process, getting paid, and raising the fees.

He'll need to figure out what to do with it all, eventually.

3, 5, 10. We know the inside, where the big things happen. This gives us eloquency for 10 and caution for 5.

Don't quote me on this, but V's age in the game will be fixed to 22-23, and you can't change it.

It does really suck because it takes away more roleplaying aspects. I wanted to create a Mike Ehrmentraut character so badly.

But this isn't the place to talk about that. As for me, I am leaning towards 3, 4 and 8.

Looks like the V will be a ex-corpo techie, with a silver tongue. Which is cool, because exactly those were the options I've chosen in this role-play.
