What kind of Netrunning are you Hoping for?

Voted 1, but I would think it's more of an AR experience, the buildings data presence mapped on to the real world. some connections only seen and accessible via the grid/net/mesh, knots where an over loaded exchange slows things down, corp buildings that are massively connected but otherwise onyx towers of ICE, some of them behind a façade of bright adverts and welcoming messages.

Whatever it is, just don't make it boring, overlong, repetitive, Deus Ex-like rubbish.

If anything, I would prefer a direct hack where I choose what I want to do and there is no actual minigame-playing involved.

Voted 2, although I find myself conflicted.

I really don't want anything exessive that could take away from the moment. What I mean by that is towards the end of the demo V is shown hacking a ganger while fighting her way through the hideout (albeit with the narration mentioning that this is a higher level maneuver, I think). I really don't want to spend too much time immersed in a virtual hacking world to take like a 10-20 minute timeout from the combat while I gather all this information, plot out and execute hacks, all while navigating this virtual world.

That being said, this sort of immersion is what's drawing me to CP2077 in the first place. The fact that we can, and are encouraged to, gather all the information available to us and make informed decisions and plan our moves and attacks could be what sets this game apart from others. Plus, if I'm hacking a corporate database for intel on whatever, I wouldn't want that to feel too easy.

Nothing will really make or break the game for me, but I just don't want it to be overdone.

I picked 1, but only because of its awesome wording. I don't actually have any idea what I'd want on this front. :p

Actually, I do like the sound of 1 over the other two options. Freedom (to get decimated)!
(Wording's still awesome, too.)

I thought how they portrayed it in the game play demo was decent. but maybe more structured and more exploritory as the system maps in the game ... sort of let the players figure out what software too use too get into the data fortresses. and how to get by its defences. depending on the software and skills employed. but the important thing is too make it feel like i am hacking or acting like a net runner. if that means mini games or not . i have no idea. but I think you should look at each of the elements developed for cyberpunk 2020 and figure out what that should mean and look like in cyberpunk 2077

This is going to be OP as hell, so please make netrunning very, very hard.

Either hard to obtain the necessary materials, or knowledge, or both.

In theory, CDPR could use netrunning as an opportunity for DLC or expansions to make any type of world within 2077 but outside the confines of what fits into the world. This could be interesting. Hmm :ohstopit: If it works like the Matrix where its a simulation construct to look however its meant to, they could "virtually" do anything...

The more I think about this game the more I realize CDPR has a goldmine with 2077.

Full, imho. But it depends on how many they made this game. But definitely they should do it DLC or for sequel etc.

I'm looking forward to the netrunning more than anything. Hoping it's along the lines of being a controlled hallucination that can be shared, or forced onto others. I don't wanna call it mind rape, but each netrunner will probably come up with their own tactics that include trying to establish a form of dominance. Or a netrunner can use the idea of a fight to keep another one distracted with trivial survival instincts where there was no fight to begin with, but instead they put the opponent in a loop, like in Gits.

It's like mental sparring...(until someones head catches on fire from the inside out)

Hopefully not chocked full of minigames...

It would be very cool to be able to build and save an actual space that was like your own netrunner control room somewhere on the net, or it could be pulled up if you close your eyes or something. You would be able to add all of what you want to share with people via braindance and hallucinations, you could even invite friends over like it was an actual room.

It would also serve as a place that would have all the tricks, hallucinations, and presets needed to turn it into a personal fortress. If your enemies ever ended up there it would be like a fly in a spiders web.

Netrunning will probably not be like this, but as a person who is going to take that route, I have my own take on what I am going to try and make netrunning like throughout my experience with 2077. Who knows, with the expansions or DLCs we may see the netrunner theme change into exactly what an individual will want as a uniquely customized experience for themselves.

What you're talking about in braindance which is like watching a movie but feeling everything within it as if you were there. That's quite different then Net-running, which is entering a virtual simulated world and controlling what happens within it. Which could manifest in a couple of ways by 3D environments or navigating raw code

Trust me I know, I think about this a lot. I am not new to these concepts, they just both have to do with a mind interface. I've been thinking that with braindance spots being everywhere (ie. on vending machines, apts) that they may be unofficial terminals or ways into backdoors for netrunning. I could be very wrong because we don't know anything yet, but I wouldn't doubt if they were related somehow.

Who is to say that someones braindance experience isn't easily altered with a few netrunning techniques, so that it may work like old propaganda. If I was a netrunner I would use any braindance vices against my enemies. It would be a perfect place for subliminals or to show something that would invoke a profound emotion.

Imagine you tweaked a persons braindance enough to where they proceeded to carry out some dirty work because they were thinking an illusion was truth.

Even nowadays we can induce certain emotions from deep fakes. If you got your hands on a homemade porn video and mixed up some faces, it could lead to someone getting killed. Or maybe PTSD could be invoked via braindance. Lots could occur.

IRL we are even having problems trying to discern what is fake from reality. In 2077, I'm pretty sure it has been taken to an extreme level and netrunners there got it down to a science by using everything they have at their disposal. Including getting into peoples heads via braindance if needed.
I would also create my own braindance scenes as a netrunner that I could use if a mission needed it. That's what I was mentioning about creating braindance themes or situations for your "own netrunner room" on the net. You may want to share beautiful things with your friends or keep some crazy braindance scenes for when you need to f with the heads of your enemies. All in all, they are kept as tactical options for the netrunner.

And I could be completely yucked up and wrong.

As much as I like the Matrix idea, the whole concept of Netrunning as such is basically a big question about what control scheme to use.

Because if you can do anything in cyberspace, then you should have tools for that, and that can't really be replicated very well with what the "base game" uses (standard FPP moving/shooting/talking). I am thinking about having superpowers (akin to the ones from Matrix: bullet-time, being able to throw cars, fly, run on walls, etc.), maybe even switching to TPP. [PROTOTYPE] is a good example of how it could look like.

Of course you'd need the System to have its own defences: agents with "live" firearms, reinforcements, stationary defenses and the ways around them, etc. But it's doable and a great way of making Netrunning a unique experience.

But I doubt we'll be getting that. There is a reason why V can be a hybrid of Solo, Netrunner and Techie. I really won't be surprised at all if what we get will be a sort of Deus Ex-like "skill checks" to do this or that, without actually doing any "real" Netrunning (this being "outsourced" to actual fully-fledged NPC Netrunners).

I voted for 1.

I think that if you invest in netrunning a certain amount, there should be some sidemissions that you could carry out entirely in cyberspace.

I know that you can hack objects in the CP world, and that cyberspace is a thing in the story, but I also want cyberspace to make an appearance outside the main story. Only hacking vending machines is.... cheap.
