Weird Things Happening

So I installed the EE yesterday and it ran fine through the Prologue until I go outside the dungeons and Aryan blows it all up and the game just crashed. Then today I loaded my save from about there and then went to Roche and Triss, and after their discussion the "Final Board" thing I believe was supposed to come up but all I got was audio a black screen and my mouse pointer that after a while changed into a cross-hair. I don't know what happened or how to fix it but the game worked fine until the patch. I f anyone knows what can help that would be much obliged.

People using 16:10 aspect ratio have this problem so use 16:9 aspect ratio

If you're missing textures (which results in big blocks of primary color where the textures should have been), you probably have the well-known problem with the corrupt Patch 2 file (TW2EE_Patch-2.bin). If this file is corrupt, you will get an error on the file pack0.dzip. If you click through the error by selecting "Ignore", you end up with a game that has a lot of pieces missing. You have to get the correct file and rerun the patch.

See this thread for detailed instructions: http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29080-how-to-fix-ee-install-error-look-here/

Neonism is right: one of the causes of black screens (not psychedelic screens like jamster got) is 16:10 aspect ratio.
