Greetings to all Witchers from Katrin, a German thirtysomething systems librarian. I already joined the "Deutsche Hexer Taverne" and now I'd like to introduce myself to the rest of the community :wave:I know and love Sapkowski's Witcher books since 2002 (hope the last two vols will be published in my native language this year). In 2007 I heard about TW RPG and that there exists an artbook to the game. Because I rather used to play in RTS's this artbook (don't laugh!) was originally the only reason for me to buy the game, occured in 2008. The game itself remained unused in my shelf...Till last chistmas! I get a brand-new computer and my better half installed TW unbitten. Since that time I enjoy Geralt's new adventures in RP-mode, and meanwhile I am not longer scared of eigther Archespore or Koshchey. ;D

Hi Katrin  though you already a frequenter in our tavern I didn't know how you stumbled into the game's witcherworld. The artbook... this is indeed unusual and amazing. If you like the Sapkowski Geralt-Saga maybe you would like to get more information of the Monsterbook which was enclosed with the Polish original game. It has exciting comments of the developers in regard of their game and Sapkowski.

Thx for this tip, Petra! The Monsterbook seems to be similar to my Artbook (comments and information), only with another topic/contents of course. It would be a good addition to my collection... :hmmm: ... have to find a way how to get it ... *activating my polish connections, auctions, ... *

Hello.Just made an account and i have some questions for you people if you dont mind.I bought the witcher enhanced edition a year ago and barely played it because i was so confused about everything, the main thing that really confused me was all the skill trees and how massive everything was.but now i want to start playing it but need some help learnign everything.some to sum it up:Any good Builds?how the skill trees work?how the combat system works?(was a little confused on the different tactics)overall anything that would really help me out since i wanna get into this game, i really like it.thank you for your time.

Build? could you specify? If you mean useful skills, i prefer to prior, Strenght & DexterityI keep Stamina, all sword skills, Aard & Igni at high level and have intelligence at moderate. I don't tend to put talent points in Quen, Axii & YardenYou gain experience by killing monsters and doing quests, once you level find a fireplace or a person where you can meditate. Talking to proper npc will have a little symbol to the left. Fireplaces have to be burning ofcourse, you can fix that with flintstones. once you have started meditate you can create potions or spend your talent points. (check your right screen for the small symbols once you have started to meditate to go to your hero meny to spend talentpoints, or your alchemy meny to do alchemy, check quests etc.)You gain Bronze talents from level 1 and so on, Silver talents from level 15 and so on and Gold talents from level 30 and so on.Combat system works that you klick your enemy, then geralt do a short serie, once you see your mouse cursor turning into a flaming sword, klick again and let Geralt do the entire combo, once he is done klick again as soon as you see the flaming cursor again.Tactis depends on your enemy, Group style for several enemies, Strong style for some and fast for some other singular enemies. I suggest you start with Strong style when facing one opponent, if you see the enemy is dodging alot switch to fast since then he is probably a enemy you shall use fast steel/silver to kill.I suggest playing at Normal difficult and spend some time making pots aswell. Mainly Swallow. You need to know about the monsters in your beastiary if you have a quest regarding them. alot can be learned by books and recipies.

People tend to mix signs with weapon style. Only Aard & Igni though for most players. There really is no specific build, but ofcourse you can prior close combat if you like that or prior the signs and intelligence if you like to be more of a wizard. But in the end you would probably have enough talent points to fill any gap you might have in your build anyway, so don't worry that much in builds :)

You don't have to plan it all out in advance, before you even play the game. Things that seem confusing now will make more sense in context. And as you go along, you'll also get a sense of what you need. If you're killing everything easily with your sword but running out of Endurance before you can cast all of the signs you want, then you'll want to add a point to Stamina. On the other hand, if you can hit things easily but you keep running out of Vitality points, you'll want to add a point to Strength. And so on.As you play the game, when it's time to add talents, you'll have certain areas that seem fairly solid and other areas that seem as if they need help. You'll put your talents into whatever area seems to need help. It'll actually be fairly intuitive, once you get into it.

That's best game ever. I was looking for a nice RPG after playing Fable: The Lost Chapters. Though at first I was put off by some stupid comments on forums like the game is being repetitive and such it proved to be my favorite game. Thanks for the wonderful game and having such an active community. When I go to bookstore next time I'll look for Witcher books. I don't think they're published in my language but worth looking for. Maybe I can get English versions.

I was very worried at first play in the prologue because of the complexity and thought there wasn't even a proper tutorial but if you read tutorials come up to screen while playing you'll get it and see that the game isn't that hard to master. If you forget or don't remember any tutorial just press J and go to tutorials tab to re-read them. Also don't worry about the skill build because none of your skill points will go anywhere until you use them and while progressing the game you'll get some skills of yours will be maxed and they will get things easier for you. It is not possible to max out all your attributes without cheating even at the end of the game.
