I think you should be happy...after all, you'd have to clean it up later on...if it goes "spray and pray mode"
And it's holidays, why waste time on this when you can spend it with someone else?

Simply scolding the dog is the best solution, too bad that mine is a poor deaf lady since she was born, so shouting was never a good choice. Gestures and ominous glares were not enough when she was younger, so I had to give little slaps up her arse. Sigh.

I do the Cesar Millan method with Gwyn. It's the only one that worked with him. Always calm, but make sure he knows he's not the pack leader.

His Big Punishment is to have to wear a leash. It isn't tied to anything at the other end, but it always seems to calm him down when he gets over-excited. And Tal the Cat has fun chasing it.
