I defeated them all in a duel to the death and now I have ascended to my rightful place as Queen of the Hairy Bear. Maybe I should change my username to Queen_Ciri....

Nice try. Everyone knows I'm the Queen of the Hairy Bear.

You may both think you're queens, but there can be only one.
Although "Queen of the Hairy Bear" isn't really a title I like. I prefer "Empress".

The last couple of days I have been pondering about something and I thought, why not ask some help with fellow witcher fans (though it has nothing to do with the witcher). I have to much free time which I waste and want to learn another language. Now after some research I have come with two languages wich I can't decide between. Therefore I hope someone of you has some valuable input to help me. The two languages are Chinese and Japanese.

Why those two? Because one; I was always very much interested in the asiatic culture and two; they both have great economies and you never know if learing it will be useful someday.
Now ofcourse I already did some very broad research and an occurring theme seems to be this: China has surpassed the Japanese economy in the last few years and is still growing while the Japanese economy has been staying even (some sources even say shrinking). Therefore, from an economic perspective, Chinese would be the safer bet.
But, if you will look at a specific part of the economy, namly the technology industry, japan is still ahead of China. Some other things to also take into consideration are the ability of them to speak English. Appearently at Chinese universities you are required to speak at least some English if you want to pass and more Chinese people just speak English.

I'm throwing this question on a couple forums hoping someone has first hand experience. :D

Do you have any reasons other than "Interested in asiatic culture" and "you never know if learing it will be useful someday"?

I'm shit at foreign languages, which is why I've always lived in countries where they speak English fluently, so I bow to Princess Ciri's superior knowledge on which is easier. But I think they're both languages that you'd need to continue to use after your course ends, if you want to be really fluent in them. So do you have plans in that? Either work-related or just reading their literature, watching their movies - it doesn't matter, but definitely something.

If it's for work, then as already mentioned, Chinese education pushes students into learning English, Japan traditionally didn't, and was monolingual. But also consider Korean. It seems to be a repeat of what happened with Japan - a lot of overseas expansion, and problems finding bilingual staff. In the city where I live, the largest ex-pat community is Korean, and they have real problems with day-to-day issues, there's a boom industry in teaching them English.

Prove it. I've provided pictorial evidence that supports my claim.

OK. I'm going to withdraw on this one. If you want to be Queen of the Hairy Bear, you can.

You are all trying to get to power, fighting over the crown, royal families quaralling. In the end the real power either lies with the people or some secret organization pulling the strings in the background. ;)

Such lies! An organization like the one described does not exist. That is ridiculous.

Accusations of the sort, should be punished, since they put the stability of our government in danger. We need Queen Reptile to lead us. Mataresa should be executed. Not that I have any say on the matter, but I would love to be Queen Reptiles adviser.

Now I'm off. I have some errands to attend to.

Right right.. ehm.. You know these supposed organizations, they don't exist mind you, they like their secrecy. The leader's name is usually kept in the shadows.

Oh anyway. I think I'm going to have to buy that book now. :p

Haha, that is the genious. Saying you a part of some secret organization does not sound credible, thus peple think you are not... ;)

Yes, Ludlum is a great author. Have read about half of his books and own nearly all of them. Besides the Bourne Trilogy (which are better than the movies in my opinion though I liked them), the Colonel Smith and Matarese books have been so far my favourites.

Thanks! Alan is my actual name while the 989 is a reference to my date of birth: 1989. :)
