Oh, they complain about it. Of course they do. "It isn't so epic, just an average CGI cinematic.", "I have expected more.", "My mom hadn't brought me food to my bed, I am so sad.", etc.
Just watched the launch cinematic. I thought it was really awesome. Sort of like TW1's. What are the complaints really about? It shows what a witcher is, the benefits and risks, and it's visually stunning.
It's spoiler free, so you can watch it (i.e. some independent story there). I'd characterize it as sad and brutal, which probably will be the tone of the game.
I haven't read all those comments, so I can't tell you all. (I try to avoid walking through shit, so I skip a lot of things in TW3 subforum)
But I think mostly it's the high level nitpicking we have seen on other things. It is a very good cinematic, but it doesn't satisfy all the expectations.
Not sure what they complain about. Another downgrade there? It's an amazing work. I wonder how long it took animators to make it. Did they use motion capture? I wish they'd post videos about making such animation too.
Well, it would be funny, if you actually took the time to make a .gif of a sleeping cat.

I am quite sure they have used motion capture. I think they also used it for the game. Most games have that this time.

Well, the commotion over the cinematic, here in the Bear, all started when I confessed myself somehow mentally disaffected by it. Accusations of heresy, and a lively series of visits from the Blue Guard, ensued, which culminated in the joke: ' what do you get when you cross a Pony and a Bear?' 'A Barony.' Then some girl porn followed.

I wouldn't say it's disaffecting, but it definitely has a very sad undertone comparing to some other stories (or trailers) in the Witcher.
