English Speaking? this stuff does not even scrape the surface on what is said and done in my country, and here the top "Politicans" are the ones saying it, not the tumblr warriors.
But to be honest i don't have a problem with "Ageist"
Age discrimination certainly is a thing and i think that it gets drowned under all the other absurdity.

It's actually not very funny when you've spent half the night trying to catch one, failed to do it because this particular one was really nervous and now have to face another night full of traumatizing buzzing noises.

It's a common joke over here that Germans have no sense of humor, but I know that's wrong. Hence why I call it an outdated stereotype.
Guess that one's international, for I had some nice conversations with Polish friends about me having to suffer of a complete lack of any sense of humour. Just in line with "Polish people are stealing everything" and "All Germans are Nazi".
And have to kill squirrels. No one even knows what that's about.
People have some really weird beliefs that are completely unfounded and based on a lack of evidence. That's why it's better to speak to other people from different places and learn about them.
And even better, if you can afford it, go there and live among them for a while. I knew I was going to learn a lot about Poland and it's people, it's culture and mentality when I decided to spend my exchange year there, but I wasn't prepared for learning so much about myself - and how you can find similiar patterns of behaviour everywhere no matter the nationality.
I guess, the next step is to try out really different cultures, like eastern ones. My sister spent a year or two in China after staying in the Netherlands for a year as well, I assume that's formative.
Ah, I thought, Babymetal was the genre as well. What do I know.

Well there certainly can be age discrimination, but I think in most cases people have their reasons for preferring one over the other and that has nothing to do with hating or respecting the other group less. In employment for example many companies either don't have the time or money or a willing to spend it to train a young employee with less experience. That sucks, but we should rather ask, why in the current system is it not worth anymore to train your own workforce and what can we change such that there is seen new worth in it. Back when you used to work pretty much your whole life in one company, it must have been much easier to reason, why the company should spend time and effort on you. On the other hand difficulties older generations face with employment are probably due to lack of perceived flexibility regarding learning new technologies and keeping up with the market. I think there is often a lot of presumption which is unnecessary.
