Wow, beautiful shots of Ireland. What kind of fowl were you hunting? Here it's already Fall. Bam, just like that it's freezing rain and overcast. I love it. Sort of.

Mostly just Wood Pigeons as they're the most common type of bird here besides Crows and Magpies.

The weather here was really good today, there was a nice breeze and no rain until we all got in the car to go home, then the Heavens opened up!

Be season for grouse and partridge in a couple of months won't it, are there any shoots over in Ireland? I still do a bit of beating and stalking meself, keep toffs paying through nose and local deer population from exploding and stripping their habitat/getting diseased. Can't handle a shotty at all though, depth perception too out of whack. Mossberg?

Yep, a 500C in 20 Gauge holding 3 shots. I haven't seen any partridges or grouses in recent years except in captivity. It could be just that they're in areas we don't know of.

I want to get back into hunting someday. I used to have a couple deer every year in the freezer and that'd last me till next season. The little bird hunting I've done I enjoyed tremendously. Harvested turkey, grouse, pheasant and duck. All good eating. Shot a Canadian goose once and the mate circled and honked above the kill. I'm too sentimental for that shit.

Yeah I can't shoot foxes for same reason, I choke up, too like dogs. Don't really like shooting deer, but they've no natural predators and they have to be controlled or starve and grow diseased when population explodes.

Most game birds are kept and fed all year in captivity round our end, released before shoot and us beaters drive 'em to guests for shooting. Earns some good money.

It was the only pump-action I could get my hands on. At first I was after a Remington 870, but the seller said that he had sold the two guns he had a couple of weeks before, so the Mossberg was the one I went for. My Dad had it in for repair for a while beforehand and tested it and loved it, but he got himself a Winchester lever-action instead as they are a rare find over here. I guess it was fate! :)

After 3 years of not training at all, I'm putting my swimming cap back on.

I fully understand now why girls need help with doing so. Long hair makes the whole thing so much harder.

That was the worst...

I swam for a total of 1 hour 30 minutes. That's all I "could" do. After 400 metres of normal slow swimming, I started getting cramps on my legs. All the time. To the point that I had to stop and try to stretch in the water, until it passed.

I hate myself for not exercising for 3 years. A total embarrassment. I swam somewhere around 1500 to 2000 metres. I had to stop every 50 metres. I used to swim more. A lot more.

Hopefully it will be like this at the start, and I'll be able to keep at it. But today really sucked. :(

Yeah, I did all my pre-workout routine before I entered the pool. Well not exactly. I did my stretches beforehand. I should have warmed up in the pool a little bit first, and then do my stretches. And I have already eaten 4 bananas today. :p

It's just that I'm so out of shape. Damn my idiocy. I'll fix it though, I'm telling you. :D

@wichat

By the way you're a Queen now. Go check the Group!

@StaGiors

On Saturday when I was out hunting, I found myself falling behind my Dad and Bill. I'm clearly out of shape myself, so I'm intending to go out walking every day until I can build up my stamina again. I had problems climbing over a low fence for feck's sake! You wouldn't notice since I'm so thin.

:facepalm:

Yeah same thing exactly. I've lost many kilos since I last worked out, so you can't tell I'm out of shape. I am now 71 kilos, and I was 65 a month ago. I used to be 78, some years ago.

@Damariel Alunnar

You are everywhere Bill. :p

I couldn't resist.

Don't forget the trunks yo.

Unless you're doing some midnight swimming sessions or something. Then by all means go without :)
