Best bet would be to wait until we get the Modding Tool, so we perhaps can take a closer look at the swords from all sides and make screenshots. But as I found out a couple of weeks ago, when I asked if the 3D format of maya unlimited will be compatible with the 3D formats of TW, you need apparently 3D Max... :'(repsils said:Yeah, I was worried thats the only way to go. I have talked to several "Swordsmiths" i the USA. But I am in need of detailed pictures of the sword and holdster.I noticed in the MusicVideo of Vader he is holding the sword...so someone must make them....PSPetra Silie: I am talking about "real life". Not in the game.![]()
Thank you for sharing the link!He really has beautiful blades *swoon* and I think I know for what I will save my money this yearRandyOrcutt said:If your looking for a HIGH-Quality Weapon smith you could try "www.albion-swords.com" . He is a little spendy but i would go so far as calling him a true artist, and you do get what you pay for. he also takes commisions but would have no idea what the cost of just a single blade would be.
I shouldn't have looked. I just shouldn't have... I did... and now I must go kill myself. ARGH, been looking for a new sword for my collection and the witcher's sword would fit in perfectly. Just seeing those....*turns away quickly*RandyOrcutt said:If your looking for a HIGH-Quality Weapon smith you could try "www.albion-swords.com" . That would be about 1 or 1.5 kilograms ;DGranted I would never use it for such, but I would love to feel the weight of sword that was built for true battle and not forabove a fireplace mantle
That's the best one I've seen in this thread, nice. I have a few non-replica (I.E. just swords) myself, so does the g/f.MIKEYMC said:This one looks a lot like the one in game. http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/nextgen/sword-scottish-chieftain-xiia.htm
I agree this one is the most alike, I too have a passion for swords, and I would love to get a replica of the silver witcher sword. I own two though they are they are not replica's that I am aware of but fantasy/ancient europe lookalikes. One is nicely titled 'Sword of the Reaper' and is more a large dagger than a sword but I'm very fond of it and it is very good quality steel sword.I recently found a sword very similar to The Witcher silver sword at the Nottingham History Museum (England) but it looked too large and was dual weilding.tracido said:That's the best one I've seen in this thread, nice. If you are after "the real thing" make sure the blade is forged in a high quality carbon steel. Quite often the so called "battle ready" swords you see for sale are in fact stainless steel, which is pretty much useless for real combat. Carbon is renowned for holding a fine cutting edge but is prone to rust and requires frequent maintenance. So if you want the real thing be prepared to do some work looking after it. If you just want a display sword as art, get a stainless steel blade, although not really authentic it wont be as prone to rust. When you hold a real weapon in your hands you certainly feel the difference in balance and weight. (not nessesarily heavier) I like to say you can feel the "death" behind the blade. As for asians being top of the line when it comes to bladed weapons, this is debatable. There is alot of mystique regarding these blades in particular the Japanese Katana. Mainly fault of hollywood film makers, and some misinterpretations of history. Alot of the confusion comes from the intricate way these swords were forged with folding and such. But the simple reason why this was primarily done is because the japanese simply did not have access to the high quality steel that was available in other parts of the world, and this process improved the quality of the metal.Be assured the ancient european weaponmasters of old, made weapons of comparable quality, and also keep in mind a weapon was designed and forged relative to the battle conditions. Huge two handed weapons were made to combat the armor worn. The japanese samurai for instance wore relatively little armor....I am however a "fan" of asian style weapons as well. I have in my current collection two one handed jian's a Japanese Katana and a rare two handed chinese straight sword, which I absolutely love.Rhian said:They claimed that these swords are the real thing - this makes me believe they are suited for combat.Keep in mind, even if a sword is meant for combat it always will get scrapes, notches and dents and get malformed at some point. The quality of metal determines how fast and how harsh the damage eats on your blade... and the metalworks nowadays is probably better thanduring medieval times (which was pretty good - and asians were top of the line anyway when it came to weapons)
